LIOne thing that has kept us motivated us through living in renovations the past couple of years is PROGRESS it’s the big thing we celebrate over here & what we share with you because in a world of scrolling online & seeing overnight renovations & observing other seasons that look nothing like ours & maybe nothing like yours, we want to show up as we are in hopes that it can inspire someone in some way. One big progress celebration: Progress in the pool house! If you remember, this was actually a garage stall that was just packed with junk & that we didn’t need. We slowly turned it into our pool house with a small bathroom, kitchen, & cozy sitting area. Crazy what you can do with a little garage stall with time, antique finds, & hard work. See my stories & pool highlights to see what this looked like last year at this time. The pool house needs a few more touches & a few more shifts, but we are SO CLOSE & I’m so thankful we have an area that we can host loved ones this summer & use our home to bless others. That is one thing I have missed during renovations is being able to host & use our home for others, but I know that season will come in the house & for now we can use this space.
Farm journal: After days of watching our tiny lamb struggle & not improve, she passed in Jose’s arms in the barn. She was born blind & we believe with other cognitive issues & some very visible deformities, but we still had high hopes that we could nurse her to be a healthy sheep here on white cottage farm. Even with daily meds, around the clock feedings, & lots of love we think we kept her alive a lot longer than nature would have allowed, but still it wasn’t enough. After last years sad lambing season where we lost a mom right after birth, this was hard on us here. In other news, we have 3 new lambs that are happy healthy & it’s been helping us. I know this comes with farming, but it’s still hard & It will never be easy for me. Thanks for loving on our tiny with us. This was hard for me to post, but I decided to post it as she will now live in my feed forever. 🫶🏼🐑

RUIt feels SO good to have this big project behind us!🎉
Backstory: We bought our dream property about 8 months ago. It’s a farmhouse on six acres with lots of potential, but also a LOT of work, due to years of neglect.
My husband and I have a huge vision for creating a place where people can gather, and a legacy for future generations of our family.
Our first big project after moving in was renovating the guest house, which was basically in shambles, and then we moved onto this next BIG challenge—the pool area.
Truth be told, we would have probably preferred to just tear it all out and start from scratch with a new pool and all new pavers or travertine, but that probably would have cost close to $200K, and we’ve got lots of other projects still on our list.
So we decided to work with what we have and just make it look as good as possible.
Honestly I wasn’t that optimistic, but it actually turned out SO much better than I could have ever hoped for!
Thanks to lots of help from our friends and my sister, we managed to get it done just in time for my daughter’s graduation party.
We probably could use a bit more furniture by the pool, and we still need a whiskey bar for the game room (the one I wanted to order is out of stock), but we’re SO excited to have such a fun space to entertain this summer!
