Potion play with water beads offers a rich, hands-on learning experience. As children mix and scoop, they develop fine motor skills, explore textures, and build early science and math concepts through observation, measuring, and sorting. They also begin to understand capacity by filling, emptying, and comparing containers of different sizes. Water play encourages focused attention, imaginative thinking, and expressive language, while providing calming sensory input that supports emotional regulation and self-directed exploration.
💧 Water beads are lots of fun, but always keep play closely supervised — you know your children best! Not suitable for little ones who are still mouthing, as they could be a choking hazard.

LI🧪 POCKET POTIONS 🧪
Ever do some potion play with the kids? Well whenever we do any potion play we end up with little bottles of ‘potions’ on the sides for weeks (if not months) we found some of last years potions with our Halloween decorations 🫣
We decided to make some pocket potions we can keep. Just a laminating sheet, hair straighteners and some of the fun potion liquid from @youth_and_wild we added glitter and some bits and bobs to our potion pockets and they came out sooo cool!
We now have a collection of potion bottles - they make the most amazing sensory pockets.

MOHere are some ideas of things you can use for potion play. Arlo doesn’t have access to these all the time. Mainly she just has water and few other things but I thought I’d do a full set up for those asking for ideas. However, your children don’t need all of this. Leaves, dirt, rocks or any nature items are more than enough to have in your mud kitchen! ☺️💕🫶🏻

MY🧪 FROZEN POTION PLAY 🧪
We all know how fun potion play is, but have you ever frozen it before play?
I got inspired once again by @messyplayfortwo and decided to add bicarbonate soda into a Bundt tin and ice moulds along with bugs and insects and coloured water.
To activate the bicarb soda, you will need to add vinegar! I also added some dishwashing liquid to the bottles to make it foamy 🫧
Want to mix up the theme? Why not try freezing

LEPotion Play is such a fun and engaging way to entertain your children.
But did you know how easy it is to make yourself?
Homemade no vinegar Fizz
1/2 C bicarb soda
1/4 C citric acid
Food colouring or mica powder
Shake in a jar, and that's it. Add some water and watch the amazing chemical reaction.
You can also add dishsoap to your water for more soapy goodness 😍
We also made fizzy strawberry bombs.
Which is the same as above but added in coconut oil, placed in a mould and freeze.
Now you can have a fun potion play at home!
We used our new gorgeous resin peices to bring our potion play to life 🫶
