Never stretching your Psoas until you understand its function. Psoas is your hip flexor muscle, when this muscle gets tight, it will pull your hip into anterior pelvic tilt. The more forward your hip is, the more stress you are putting on your lower back. To fix this, you need to bring your hip back to normal by training your hamstring and inner thigh. These are just a few examples of what you’ll find inside my programs on the Posture Guy Mike App. 👉 Start by placing one leg up at a 90-degree angle on a chair, while the other leg rests straight out on a suitcase or box. 
You may notice a curve in your lower back — as that flattens, it’s a sign your psoas is beginning to release, decompressing the spine with every breath. 👉 Next, lower your elevated foot to the floor. You may notice the curve return slightly — wait for it to flatten again as your body adjusts. 👉 Finally, bring both legs up, knees bent at 90 degrees. It’s a survival organ.   Your psoas connects your spine to your legs, but it also connects your nervous system to your emotional history. In psychoneuroimmunology (PNI), we see that when the body is overwhelmed with fear, hypervigilance, shame, or chronic stress, the psoas becomes a storage site for unprocessed emotional energy.   Why? Because the psoas contracts instantly during danger. It curls you forward. It protects your organs. It prepares you to run. And when life doesn’t give you a chance to release that activation — the contraction becomes chronic.   This is why people with long-term stress, trauma, anxiety, or “always-on” lifestyles often feel: • low-back tension • pelvic misalignment • digestive sluggishness • shallow breathing • leg heaviness • or a constant sense of emotional load   Your psoas is doing exactly what it was designed to do — keep you alive. But here’s what almost no one understands:   A muscle cannot release what the body has no energy to process.
