Jeez mom, ok! Just playin 🤪 I might be small, but my puppy behavior and training journey is serious business… especially when I have a full puppy tantrum and start nibbling everything in sight. 🐶😅 My human uses this super simple puppy training trick that stops my “puppy attack” moment in seconds and helps me practice real dog skills. If you love dog training videos or need quick fixes that actually work, watch how fast I go from chaos to calm! #puppytraining101 #dogtrainingtools #puppytraininginprogress #crazypuppy #puppybiting

If you do not regularly give your puppy alone time, you will likely regret it. Teaching your puppy to be alone while you are around is one of the best things you can do for them mentally. It’s prevents anxiety which can prevent a whole host of problems down the track. You can use either crate, pen or tether. Or all three if you like. Trust me you will not regret it 👌🏾😊

Most puppy problems aren’t “behavior issues.” They’re the result of missing structure in the first 12 weeks. Here are the 3 things to stop doing immediately if you want a calm, confident adult dog: 1. Stop letting your puppy free-roam the house. A puppy with full access will rehearse every behavior you don’t want: chewing, accidents, barking, overstimulation. Your puppy should be supervised, on a house line, in an exercise pen, or asleep in their crate. Free-roam is earned months later — not day one. 2. Stop avoiding socialization because you’re afraid of disease. The #1 reason adult dogs develop fear, reactivity, and anxiety is because they were under-socialized during the critical window. Socialization doesn’t mean letting them play with every dog. It means controlled exposure to the world: • Riding in a stroller or wagon at the park • Sitting in a backpack on a short walk • Hearing new sounds, seeing new surfaces, watching calm dogs at a distance • Visiting parking lots, store fronts, playgrounds, the vet lobby You can socialize safely without letting them touch the ground in high-risk areas — but you cannot skip socialization. 3. Stop keeping your puppy awake all day. New owners spend too much time interacting with their puppy, and not enough time letting them sleep. Puppies need 18–20 hours of real sleep. Overtired puppies become mouthy, barky, “zoomy,” and impossible to settle. A healthy rhythm looks like this: wake → potty → eat → short training (5–10 minutes with their kibble) → structured play (tug/fetch/engagement) → chew → crate for sleep. Repeat throughout the day. If you fix these three things early, you eliminate 90% of the behaviors people end up Googling later. If your dog struggles with pacing, panting, or vocalizing when you leave, they aren’t being “bad,” they are likely overwhelmed by environmental triggers. Real improvement for stress involves lowering the “water level” of their stress bucket before the panic starts. We developed the 7-Day Sanctuary Blueprint to help you reset your dog’s environment for just $7. ✅ Step 1: Take the Free Stress Bucket Audit (Link in bio). ✅ Step 2: Get your score and download the $7 Blueprint. . . . #dogs #dogsofinstagram #funnydogs #cutedogs #dog

The biggest mistake you can make right now with your puppy is missing how their brain is developing in this phase. Most puppies come home at around 8 weeks, and that’s not just the cute baby stage, that’s actually a really important learning window. Their nervous system is basically figuring out what matters, what’s safe, what needs a reaction, and what can just be ignored. That’s where confident dogs come from. Not from “socialising” the way most people think about it. Not from saying hi to everything. Not from constantly doing more and more. Confidence comes from exposure your puppy can actually process. So things like watching people walk past, hearing traffic, seeing other dogs without needing to interact, being in different environments without being the centre of it. Safe, low pressure, no expectations. They can just look, take it in, and move on. That’s how the brain starts filing things as normal instead of something to react to later. With vaccinations, it just means you get a bit more intentional with how you set it up. Inner city Sydney is generally lower parvo risk, but I always recommend having a quick chat with your vet so you know what’s appropriate for your area. If you get this stage right, you don’t just end up with a “social” dog, you get a dog that can actually move through the world without needing to react to everything around them. ➡️ If you want help setting this up properly from the start, send me a message or head to www.willowhound.com.au #sydneypuppies #puppytraining #sydneydogtraining #puppysocialisation #sydney

😭 Humans find small puppies cute because their features like big eyes, round faces, small noses, and clumsy movements trigger a nurturing response in our brains. These traits resemble those of human babies, activating instincts linked to care and affection. This biological reaction makes us feel warmth, joy, and a desire to protect them. When your dog pulls to “say hi,” it’s not friendliness — it’s lack of control. Most dogs aren’t trying to be bad… they’re just practicing pulling every single walk. In a few minutes, we went from: ➡️ dragging toward my dog to greet to ✅ calmly walking past my dogs on a loose leash The goal isn’t to “never meet dogs.” The goal is your dog can ignore dogs until you say otherwise. If your walks feel stressful, DM me “LEASH” to set up some one on one sessions or virtual sessions and fix it! #dogtraining #leashtraining #looseleashwalking #reactivedogtraining #dogreactivity #balancedtraining #obediencetraining #dogtrainer #dogbehavior #dogbehaviour #walkingyourdog #heelwork #impulsecontrol #structuredwalks #leadershipmatters #calmdog #trainingdogs #dogsofinstagram #tampadogs #tampadogtrainer #tampaflorida #stpete #clearwater

It’s not because they’re stubborn. It’s not because they’re high energy. It’s not because you got the “hard” puppy. It’s because they’ve never been taught how. Here’s what I see all the time behind closed doors. The puppy is always involved. Always stimulated. Always entertained. Always rescued the moment they fuss. So when nothing is happening, they don’t know what to do with themselves. Here’s what I do instead. • I teach settling as a skill, not a side effect. Calm doesn’t just appear. It’s practised. • I use crates, play pens, and tie outs so the puppy can experience downtime without being isolated or overwhelmed. • I create clear windows in the day. Time to play hard. Time to train. Time to be independent. Time to rest. Puppies settle faster when life is predictable. • I stop reacting to every sound. Whining doesn’t open doors. Barking doesn’t bring attention. Calm does. • I meet needs first. A puppy who hasn’t moved, sniffed, chewed, or used their brain will always struggle to switch off. • I reward stillness. Lying down. Watching the room. Choosing rest. These moments matter more than flashy behaviours early on if your aim is a puppy who can relax. Settling isn’t about tiring your puppy out. It’s about teaching them that doing nothing, when required, is safe and comfortable. Once they learn that, everything gets easier. What does your puppy struggle with most when it comes to settling?
