That means up to 30% of protein calories may be used during digestion and metabolism. ‼️Compared to just ~0–3% for fats and ~5–10% for carbs. Third, adequate protein intake helps preserve lean muscle mass during fat loss, which is important for both performance and metabolic health. Protein is also less efficiently stored as body fat compared to other macronutrients, due to the additional metabolic steps required to convert it. It’s also worth noting that other foods like fruits and vegetables support fullness through fiber and volume but through different mechanisms.
