How to experience the Blue Lagoon in Rangiroa ⬇️ This is by far the best thing to do in Rangiroa with kids! Rangiroa is remote, so there is no way you’ll visit and not hear about this day trip experience. Here are the details: 1️⃣ The Blue Lagoon is located on Rangiroa, which is part of French Polynesia and 1 hour flight from Tahiti. 2️⃣ Rangiroa is one of the world’s largest atolls and is widely regarded as one of the best dive sites in the world 3️⃣ There are only about 2,000 people on Rangiroa and it’s a far cry from the more over developed places such as Bora Bora 4️⃣ The Blue Lagoon is a day trip from that can be arranged from either “town” in Rangiroa, either Tiputa or Avatoru 5️⃣ The trip to the Blue Lagoon consists of about an hour+ boat ride to the lagoon, with potential stops along the way to snorkel with Manta rays 6️⃣ The Blue Lagoon is a natural nursery for black tip reef sharks, which is why there are SO many swimming around in the shallow waters 7️⃣ An island lunch is served consisting of fresh fruit, fresh fish and a BBQ complete with some impromptu Polynesian music 8️⃣ You have a few hours at the lagoon to snorkel, relax in hammocks or just stroll along the most pristine and remote palm tree lined beaches you’ll ever experience 9️⃣ Kids are welcome! We brought our 2 year old and she swam with the Manta rays and sharks too! Rangiroa has a reputation for spectacular interactions with wildlife most notably their population of extremely “friendly” dolphins. After some research I realized that these dolphins weren’t just regular wild creatures but those that had been habituated by humans. Most of the dive centers here allow and sometimes encourage divers to scratch, hug and play with the dolphins. We decided to dive with @rangiroa_diving_center because of their no touch policy and their work with @dauphinsderangiroa .Together they are trying to change the way people interact with the wildlife. I must say these were the best interactions I’ve had with dolphins in my life but they did feel a bit disingenuous. You can see during the video that we had to actively try to avoid them. You gotta add Tiputa Pass, Rangiroa to your bucket list BUT make sure you dive on the incoming current, when the ocean flows into the lagoon.
