I always get asked the question “how can I get faster render times in Redshift?” Watch this video to find out how 💛
My starting settings 👇🏼
1. Turn off auto sampling (we’re going to use manual sampling)
2. Min samples: 16 (covers most cases)
3. Max samples: start at 512 - (this is antialiasing, motion blur and DoF only and if you need more increase to 1024+)
4. Set threshold to 0.1 - if you need more samples increase to 0.05-0.01 (this is how sensitive your min > max samples will be)
5. Overrides - enable the things in your scene (e.g. if you’re using refraction, enable it here)
6. Samples: start at 512 - increase if you need more (1024+)
7. GI samples (Brute Force rays): start at 512 - increase if you need more (1024+)
8. Primary GI: Brute Force and Secondary GI: IPC
*To prevent flickering for animation set retrace threshold to 3
9. Trace depths - individual ray bounces - remove what you don’t need!
*Use hardware ray-tracing if you have it available
10. Final step - adjust bucket quality, but be careful (requires RAM and sometimes small details render faster with a smaller bucket size)
🚨 NOTE: These are my starting settings when optimising in Redshift. Remember when manual sampling your settings are VERY scene dependant, so be sure to learn what’s in your scene and adjust settings based on those things.
