THWhen we pulled our kids out of school in kindergarten and 2nd grade to travel the country in our RV, we had no real plan—just a desire to learn through life.
At first, we tried to recreate school on the road, but quickly realized the freedom we had in learning differently. History, science, and geography came alive as we explored national parks, museums, and preserves across the U.S.
As our travels took us abroad—living in Greece, Portugal, and Mexico, and visiting places like Morocco, Germany, and Albania—their worldview expanded in ways we could’ve never taught from a book.
They became strong readers, built a strong math foundation with Teaching Textbooks, and followed their curiosity everywhere it led. They learned how to be flexible and adapt quickly to new people, situations and cultures.
This summer, we settled down as they were wanting to try a traditional school experience and develop consistent in- person friendships. The first semester just ended… and they’re thriving.
Both have all A’s, are building great friendships, and loving the experience.
Their teachers have shared how seamlessly they’ve adjusted and how impressively they’re excelling.
After seven years of doing it the unconventional way, it’s amazing to see them transition so seamlessly into this next chapter. We built incredible friendships and made so many memories through our adventures, but it was time for a change and it’s so rewarding to see this chapter unfold and see our children thrive in new ways. ❤️
