The ROXZONE……. What is it? 👇🏻 It’s just a made up word! It’s the big old area where all the stations are and the time here still counts towards your overall race time! Should I walk it and recover? 👇🏻 NO! This Is a real opportunity to gain time in your race. At worst jog it, you may be tempted to walk but get to the next station or run ASAP. My top tips for the ROXZONE 1️⃣ Know the layout! Make sure you do a walk around prior to your race. Make sure you know the entrance and exit points 2️⃣ minimise Breaks. Treat this like a run. You wouldn’t walk on the run so don’t walk here 3️⃣ If you do need to stop for a drink or rest keep walking at least to maintain movement 4️⃣ I always run the RZ at my run pace this will ensure you don’t lose crucial seconds All of the above will help you make a huge difference to your overall time #roxzone #hyroxroxzonedeepdive #hyroxuk #hyroxhack #hyroxtips #hyroxworld #hyroxcommunity #hyroxathlete #hyroxrace #functionalmovement

First HYROX? Read this ⬇️ I was right there with you at last year’s NYC race—it was my first HYROX. I trained hard, but I didn’t know everything—and that’s the point. We don’t wait for perfect. We show up, get uncomfortable, and keep learning. For anyone stepping into their first start zone, here’s what I wish I knew going in: 1. Later start time? Eat breakfast food all day. Sprinters do it to keep energy steady without crashing. 2. Don’t go too hard on the ski. You’ll burn out fast—and the sleds will punish you for it. 3. Wear shoes with grip. Traction matters, especially when you’re pushing heavy. 4. Train for the transitions. The ROX zone isn’t a breather. Stay in race mode. 5. Run your race. You’ll overlap with athletes from other heats. Doesn’t matter. Eyes on your own lane. And remember: it’s meant to hurt. This isn’t a spa day. It’s very important because it can actually be a big factor in why you may not be getting the time you desire at a Hyrox race. My Tip for the Roxzone is to simply RUN in it don’t walk. okay first things first: the rox zone is where your stations are. it’s the transitional space where you run to the station, exit the station, and return to the main running track. think of the stretch leading to the sled push, the bit after the wall balls, and all those in-between moments. this is also where you’ll find things like hydration stations, chalk buckets, and your sandbag. why does this matter? because it adds up! hyrox officially says the course totals 8.7km. that means you’re running roughly 700m more than just the 8 x 1km laps — and most of that extra distance lives in the rox zone. as a beginner, you’ll hear one key piece of advice: “run the rox zone.” and yes — if you can run it, absolutely do. it counts. don’t waste time strolling through it for no reason. but — here’s the nuance: a run/walk strategy can actually benefit some beginners. catching your breath in the rox zone might help you reset mentally and physically before hitting the next run or station hard. for example, i like to slightly ease off in the last 100m of my running lap, then enter the rox zone just a bit slower. depending on how the station went, i might also take a few slower steps as i exit, before picking the pace back up. 🤠 dont walk aimlessly in the rox zone, don’t get in the way of other athletes, be aware of your surroundings - but also use it strategically! Get your HYROX splits on your Garmin! Here’s exactly how to set it up. In this video I walk you through a simple setup on the Garmin Forerunner 970 so your watch captures a clean split for every run and every station on race day. No complicated settings, no fumbling mid-race! Note: Steps shown are on the Garmin Forerunner 970, navigation may vary slightly across different Garmin models. On recording your Rox Zone splits: You can get even more detailed by pressing Lap every time you enter the Rox Zone, and again when you start your station, and again when you finish. Technically it works but that’s a lot of tapping mid-race and adds unnecessary complexity when you’re already pushing hard! My take is to keep it simple. Press Lap when you enter the Rox Zone, and press Lap again when you exit. That’s it. Clean splits, minimal effort, and one less thing to think about on race day. Hope this helps your next HYROX! Then it becomes your new normal. AVOID THESE “walk triggers”🚶‍➡️ Right after the IN arch Entering a station Leaving a station Inside the ROX zone When your legs feel like bricks When your lungs feel on fire HERE’S THE REAL PROBLEM:⚠️
The hardest part isn’t running…
It’s starting to run again after you stop. WHAT IT COSTS YOU:🫵
A light jog is about 2x faster than walking. So the time adds up fast: * Walking the ROX zone = 5+ minutes gone * Walking one lap = 4 minutes lost * Do that over 6 laps = 20–25 minutes donated Just holding a steady jog can cut up to 30 minutes off your race. THE FIX:✅
If you “need” to walk, it’s usually one of these: 1. You started too fast 2. You overcooked a station 3. You chased someone fitter than you That’s not a fitness problem.
That’s a pacing problem. THE RULE:
Don’t sprint.
Don’t stop.
Just keep a slow jog. Protect your rhythm.
Stick to your plan.
Win the mental battle. THIS IS FOR YOU IF:💪

Here’s the truth: – The ROX zone isn’t a break. It’s a time sink. – You don’t need to feel ready to go, just move. – Even if the first 500m is slower, it’s still faster than standing still. If you’re racing doubles, decide this before you start: 🚫 No talking. 🚫 No waiting. ✅ Grab, tag, and GO. We had the fitness. We just left our time sitting in the ROX zone. Don’t make the same mistake.

Too many athletes ease up the moment they step off the run. Big mistake. The real race starts the second you enter the ROX zone. This is where seconds slip away or where you steal them back. That 1% difference between a good time and a great one? It’s right here. Run through the ROX. Keep the gas on. This is your chance to overtake. To send a message. To step on the rower before they do. To force them to panic when they thought they had a moment to breathe. I personally love playing mind games in the ROX zone. Be savage — take people over right before they’re about to start a station. Watch them crumble when they expected calm, but got chaos. I’ve been fortunate during my doubles races that my amazing partners @eddiewouldfoil , @hoffmanperformance and @_na.mes are on the same page and this attitude 100% contributed to our end results!🥇🥈🥉 Be the ROX zone beast.
