Checked out Double Arch Trail today in the Red River Gorge. 🥾It was drizzling which made for some slick spots but nothing major. 🌧️ I love that you can see the arch from down below. Another reminder to always look 🆙
Logged 4.76 miles out and back, in just under 2 hours. ⏱️ The wet conditions slowed me down a little but no complaints here since it allowed me more time to appreciate my surroundings! 🐢

ADThe video that is the hardest share. This is more than a month into things. Christmas Eve.
Couldn’t walk without the @helpemup harness. I’d fall in a few steps, sometimes rolling over onto my back unable to get up. Couldn’t walk on smooth or uneven surfaces. Couldn’t go to the bathroom without falling. I lost my confidence to do most every thing. I would fall down stairs, fall going up stairs (fall back.)
Horners syndrome came into play as well.
How did it start? A little head tilt, then a bigger tilt and an eye squint, then back leg weakness, falling down stairs, couldn’t jump without my legs failing me, couldn’t eat without food and water falling out of my mouth, muscle tics especially in the neck and head area.
I am so much better now. Not 100% but still working on it! A great veterinary team comprising of multiple practices (@accessculvercity and @modernanimal) a really amazing eye doctor who helped me with depth perception and focus. And @atlasrehab4canines that has made sure everyone involved in my care knows what my physical needs are during tests and surgeries.
I never stopped tasking for my human, never stopped being a light in her life. It was scary and sometimes felt impossible, but I am stronger and have more confidence now. I task with even more enthusiasm now! I can nudge with a lot more muscle behind me now! I am funnier than ever! More opinionated than ever too!
Never stop advocating for your dog. Have a good team that is honest with you, and advocates with you. Find a support group, my human found some great Facebook groups to glean some knowledge from and learn what questions to ask.
