Use a tiny bit of the shallot oil in a big pot, saute the pork belly until the fat starts to sizzle. 4. Put in garlic and ginger, saute for a few minutes until fragrant. 5. Put in cinnamon stick, star anise, bay leaves, water/chicken stock and all the spice and sauces listed above. 6. Let it simmer for about an hour. 7. Put in hard boiled eggs, let it simmer for another 30-40 minutes. 8. Serve over white rice, add a side of bak choy and some pickled diakons to cut down the fattiness of the pork. 【Recipe】 I come up with so many recipes and it’s not often I’ll actually think / crave for a particular dish the following day. I’m missing it now! This Pork Belly Stir fry Bitter gourd eggs definitely hits the home run for me. It’s delicious! I have to say the pork belly I used played an important part in this recipe. 太香了🤤 Fearful of bitter gourds? I can assure you it’s so good, you won’t even notice it anymore! Sweetness from the pork and eggs masked that off and each bite is just pure juiciness 🤤 好吃! Got the excellent cut of Jeju pork belly from @meatcosg recently at their new outlet at Paragon along with other premium meats. I have to say I enjoyed this Jeju pork belly the best 😝 Though it’s slightly more expensive, the quality speaks for itself. And for me, nothing is wasted. I usually trimmed off the fats and pan fry to get lard oil for all my other cookings. It’s all natural no chemical and have I mentioned how fragrant it is? 猪油超香的🤤 Do try out this tasty and easy recipe! I know it’ll be on repeat on my dinner table now 🙌🏻 #honeybeecooksporkbellybittergourdeggs ———— 4 small bitter gourds, seeded & sliced thin 2 large eggs 1 medium onion, sliced 5 garlic cloves minced 250-300g pork belly skinless, trim extra fat if desired, cut into bite size pieces Marinade 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper Seasonings for eggs 1 tbsp mirin 1 tbsp light soy sauce Seasoning for dish 1/4 tsp salt 1 tbsp mirin Method 1) Combine pork belly slices with marinade. Dish up and serve aside for later. Leave 1 tbsp oil in pan. 4) Add in minced garlic and onion to pan and sauté on medium low heat till soften. 5) Drain and rinsed the bitterness gourd slices. Add to the salted onions. Add in seasonings. 6) Prep the eggs with the seasonings in a small bowl. Whisk well and add to bitter gourd. Let set for 30 secs. 7) Stir in and add in the pork belly slices last. Stir well to combine. Dish up and serve immediately. Enjoy! #要记得回家吃饭🐝

Tonight for dinner we had steamed pork belly with vegetables. Incredibly easy to make and healthy. The flavors shine through from the cilantro seasoned soy sauce. Highly recommend if you want to impress with minimal work. This recipe is from our cookbook, UMMA, pg 168. Full recipe is below (it’s only two steps!) but if you want to support, you can purchase our cookbook at the link in our bio for more. INGREDIENTS: 12 ounces (340 grams) mung bean sprouts 8 ounces (227 grams) enoki mushrooms, ends trimmed, separated at the base 1/4 cup (71 grams) thinly sliced yellow onion 1 large carrot (100 grams), peeled and cut into 3‑inch matchsticks 4 ounces (113 grams) garlic chives, cut into 2‑inch lengths 4 ounces (113 grams) napa cabbage, innermost yellow leaves only, cut into 2‑inch pieces 14 ounces (397 grams) thinly sliced frozen pork belly 1/2 cup water 1 green onion, sliced thin 1/2 teaspoon fine salt 1/4 teaspoon black pepper For the sauce: 1/2 cup soy sauce 6 tablespoons distilled white vinegar 2 tablespoons plum extract syrup 2 tablespoons minced garlic 2 tablespoons minced fresh cilantro Prepared Korean mustard INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Arrange the bean sprouts in an even layer in a shallow 6‑quart pan, followed by a layer of mushrooms. Scatter the yellow onion over the mushrooms, then arrange the carrot, chives, and cabbage on top in 3 even rows. Arrange the pork on top in rows over the vegetables. Drizzle the water through the gaps in the pork belly. Sprinkle with the green onion, salt, and pepper. Cover and cook over medium-high heat until the pork is cooked through, 12 to 15 minutes. 2 Combine the soy sauce, vinegar, plum extract, garlic, and cilantro in a bowl, then divide the sauce among individual small bowls; place a small portion of mustard in each bowl for each person to mix into the sauce to their liking. Place the pan at the center of the table and serve with the dipping sauce.
