Someone once said to me, ‘all great acting is doing at least two things at once’. And my gosh it’s true. That’s why Scene Objectives sometimes fail, because when we put all our eggs in one basket, we become an actor, not a person. Life is messy and complicated, it doesn’t operate in a linear fashion. So if you’re trying to get someone to take you back in a scene… do it while you’re making a burrito. I’d watch the shit out of that. Don’t simplify things, always go for duality, contrast, contradiction. And always be playing at least two things at once. The Ongoing Self-Tape Gym November begins in just over a week.
