The life you’re stepping into asks for more than desire. It asks for steadiness and self-regulation. It asks for the ability to stay present when it would be easier to disappear into autopilot. So what feels limiting right now might actually be your nervous system building the capacity to hold more. Inner structure comes before freedom. Always.

The gap between trigger and reaction, that’s where everything changes. For a long time, I didn’t even see that gap. Something would hit, my jaw would tighten, my chest would heat up, and my mind would start building its case. By the time I noticed it, I was already reacting. That’s where most patterns come from. Not the emotion, but how fast we move with it. That’s why I started working on what I call Closing the Gap. If we were sitting together, I wouldn’t tell you to fix the emotion. I’d tell you to find where it starts. Because there’s always a moment, even if it’s small, where it shows up in the body first. Notice it. Breathe. Create a little space. That space is where you stop reacting and start choosing. Over time, that gap gets wider. And the things that used to control you, don’t hit the same way anymore. This isn’t about shutting down anger, shame, or guilt. It’s about learning how to feel it, without becoming it. If you’re ready to build that, comment OPTIMIZE and I’ll send you the waitlist. #menscoaching #somatichealing #nervoussystemwork #closingthegap #sacredwarriors888

You are not too emotional as most emotional waves move through the body quickly. What keeps them going is often the story your mind replays after the trigger. The body feels it once but your mind can make you feel it all day because of the obsessive replay loops it gets stuck in.

I get a lot of people coming to me looking for ways to "regulate" their nervous systems - and it's interesting to me to see that the internal narrative around these practices still holds a quality of needing to get out of an experience or feeling in order to access a positive emotional state. I see this narrative perpetuated online with "nervous system hacks" that subtly insinuate that you can do these and feel better. Establishing capacity in the nervous system takes TIME. It is not a quick, once off endeavor- and while you are practicing these tools you are likely going to come face to face with more fear and discomfort - which no one seems to talk about. Regulation allows us to still be in uncomfortable situations, feeling or emotional states, but our relationship to the state changes. We will still visit places of sadness, anxiety or anger, because we're HUMAN and have feelings, but the difference that occurs through regulation is that we reestablish agency and choice within those states - over time. 🌀

Regulating our nervous system 📳📳📳 A reflection on another sunny day. Our nervous systems are continually shaken by our lifestyle and social demands, how are we supposed to find the time to regulate ourselves and just be, is there even such a moment during the day? This is a reflection on all those moments throughout the day that give us an opportunity to just be, observe, breath and ground ourselves that we all too quickly fill with our phones and scrolling. I set myself the challenge of being more conscious of this and I set you the challenge too. It's harder than you may think...📳 Music Credit - "Anticipation" By Jonny Easton. . . . . . therapist emotionalregulation doomscrolling psychotherapist selfcare

Wanting control over everything is usually not “standards” or “discipline”…it’s your nervous system terrified of uncertainty. If your body only feels safe when nothing goes wrong, you’ll spend your whole life micromanaging instead of actually living. Regulation doesn’t mean you become passive or apathetic. It means you can feel the anxiety, grief, or anger in your system and still choose aligned action instead of panic, freezing, or overreacting. A calmer body gives you a clearer mind. Side note: we can talk all day about corrupt systems, broken institutions, and global chaos…but those are built and maintained by dysregulated humans. The more we heal our own nervous systems, the harder it becomes to participate in, enable, or normalize the same old patterns out there.

I used to think being “on” all the time was strength. It wasn’t. It was chronic activation. When your nervous system never comes down thinking narrows, patience shortens and relationships absorb the cost. Eventually, it feels like personality. It isn’t. It’s a skill gap. This is trainable, and it’s the focus of the work I do with high-achieving professionals. Feeling overwhelmed under pressure? It's often your nervous system reacting automatically — triggering survival mode instead of clear thinking. Becoming aware of these internal reactions allows you to step back, regulate your state, and choose how to respond rather than react. This shift from autopilot to intentional action changes performance, helping you stay steady, focused, and effective when it matters most. What's one way you notice your body reacts under pressure, and how might awareness change that?

It’s not a character flaw. It’s a stress response. When your system is overloaded, your prefrontal cortex goes offline. You lose access to: Perspective. Empathy. Creativity. Patience. So you default to survival. Regulation keeps your higher brain online. That’s why meditation changes relationships, leadership, parenting, and decision making. It gives you access to yourself. Most of our current theories in physics rely on the assumption that the speed of light in constant But there’s a bunch of emerging evidence that suggests that the speed of light varies I saw this to emphasize that most of what you are invested in as true relies on underlying assumptions you haven’t examined and can’t confirm with absolute certainty whether they are true Your triggers are not just a cognitive event; they’re a complex mind body culture spirit expression. BUT, they usually do rely on very poor, uncritical, black and white, exaggerated thinking. The task is not to shame this thinking or even try to replace it but instead to recognize that this poor thinking is part of a complex strategy of yours (unconsciously) to maintain and even amplify your trigger state. Its not about forcing the substitution of poor thinking with expansive or divine thinking, it’s about recognizing WHO is thinking this way The step after this is the establishment of a relationship with that version of you who’s thinking this way When this version of you senses the warm, compassionate, non-punitive relationship from you, within you, you set yourself up for permanent transformation of this particular trigger, not just temporary relief

If you're feeling constantly on edge... or your mind is overstimulated or clouded... or you're always waiting for something bad to happen... Give your nervous system a freakingggg break. Get off social media for a few days. Delete the things that keep pulling you back to your phone. Notice what makes you feel bad in your body, and give yourself permission to step away from it. Get bored. It WILL feel uncomfortable at first. That's the point. But once you move past that initial discomfort, you're going to notice a shift in your body, in how you think, and what you focus on. How have YOU been feeling with ALL the noise, all the distraction, all the constant stimulation?!
