LIGather all Sikhs… and slaughter them ALL at once.
That was the plan.
They didn’t just want to kill him.
They wanted to break his faith.
In the 18th century, the Mughal Empire was hunting Sikhs across Punjab.
During this dark period of Sikh history, Bhai Mani Singh Ji stood as the guardian of Sri Harmandir Sahib.
Born into a family where over 50 members attained Shaheedi, sacrifice was not new to him.
But his legacy is far greater than martyrdom.
He had the honour of serving as the scribe of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, writing as Guru Sahib dictated the sacred bani of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
He was a scholar. A warrior. A sevadar.
When Bhai Mani Singh Ji planned to gather Sikhs at Harmandir Sahib for Bandi Chhor Diwas, he sought permission from Lahore’s governor, Zakaria Khan.
Permission was granted. With a heavy TAX.
But Zakaria Khan had a hidden intention:
Gather all Sikhs in one place… and slaughter them.
Bhai Mani Singh Ji immediately cancelled the gathering after discovering this betrayal, saving many Sikh lives.
When Zakaria Khan demanded the promised payment, Bhai Sahib refused.
He would not fund tyranny.
He would not bow to oppression.
He would not convert.
For this, he was sentenced to one of the most brutal executions in Sikh history: dismembered limb by limb.
When the executioner began to cut his finger off, Bhai Mani Singh Ji calmly said:
“The order was limb by limb. Begin at my finger joints.”
People thought he was afraid. He was NOT.
He began reciting Gurbani as each joint was severed.
And here is what history teaches us:
Shaheedi in Sikhi is not about death.
It is about choosing your Dharam over fear.
Having complete faith in Waheguru.
Bhai Mani Singh Ji did not just endure pain.
He protected the future of the Khalsa.

6 دسمبر 1992 کو بابری مسجد کو گرا دیا گیا، مگر اس دن حقیقت میں جو ٹوٹا، وہ بے شمار دل تھے۔ صدیوں سے قائم عبادت گاہ چند لمحوں میں ملبے میں بدل گئی، ایک ایسا زخم چھوڑ کر جو آج تک لفظوں میں سمونا مشکل ہے۔ بہت سوں کے لیے اُس روز صرف ایک مسجد نہیں گری—ایمان زخمی ہوا، عزت مجروح ہوئی، اور بھروسہ ٹوٹ گیا۔ اُس دن کی گونج اب بھی خاموش آنسؤں اور بے جواب سوالوں میں زندہ ہے۔
بابری مسجد کو یاد کرنا نفرت یا بدلے کے لیے نہیں، بلکہ اس لیے ہے کہ ہم اس نقصان، اس ناانصافی اور اس سوز کو یاد رکھیں جو دلوں پر گزری۔ اس کی یاد ہمیں سکھائے کہ انسانیت ہمیشہ غصے سے اونچی، اور امن طاقت سے زیادہ مضبوط ہونا چاہیے۔
