Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is a masterpiece of modern Islamic architecture, built from white marble and detailed with intricate floral inlays, chandeliers and one of the world’s largest hand-knotted carpets.
It’s serene, grand, and incredibly humbling - the kind of place that makes you slow down without even realizing it 🕌
TIPS:
- Entry is free, but book your time slot online in advance to avoid long queues (takes about 30min to go through the whole entry process) 🎟️
- If arriving by taxi, ask to be dropped off at the shopping mall entrance - that’s the official visitor entrance (the main mosque gates are for prayer only) 🚖
- Modest dress is mandatory - men need to wear long trousers and cover shoulders, women need an abaya (you’ll find way more options and better prices ordering one beforehand via apps like Noon, instead of buying near the mosque) 👗
- For the best light, visit in the late afternoon or around 30min before sunset - golden hour here is unreal! 🤩
