Disclaimer: Also obviously this is sort of a joke too… we can’t “decide what we get”, Jesus decides that and allllll I care about is a healthy baby ❤️
But for those interested, here’s the summary version of the Shettles method that our friends swore by for all 4 of their kids below! Now let’s be honest you’ve got a 50/50 odd to start… so does this work? It apparently raises the odds to 70-80% odds of that gender when done right! But who really knows 🤪
Shettles method is based on the theory that female sperm swim slower but will last longer in your body if the egg isn’t there yet to be fertilized - aka ovulation hasn’t happened yet (sperm can last up to 5 days in your body to “wait around” for ovulation to happen!)… And that male sperm swim faster but don’t last as long in your body. SO, they say if you want a girl, “try” the days leading up to ovulation but don’t try the day before or during ovulation. The male sperm may get there first but will die off before you ovulate and release the egg to be fertilized. And if you want a boy, ONLY try on ovulation day when the egg will already be there ready to be fertilized, since male will get there first.
Obviously trying for a boy is probably easier since it’s easier to KNOW exactly when you’re ovulating vs guessing the timeframe to try before ovulation but close enough to it that you’re fertile 🤪
Anyways, we used this for the first go around since hubby really wanted a boy…. But as many of y’all know and I’ve been documenting, we’re TTC for baby 2 & ovulation day should be approaching soon… and this time we’ll just try whenever and see!
Again, all I truly care about is a happy healthy baby, along with a smooth as possible pregnancy season +birth. ❤️❤️
