PEWhy one-handed riffle shuffles? Don't know really, it sort of looks cool 🤔
I remember this daunting flourish from when I first saw it in @roberto_giobbi 's Card College Volume 2 when I was 14 years old. I had never seen it being done, and I didn't have the luck of living in a bigger city with a magic community to show it to me. I gave up on trying to learn it, the excuse being that it merely served the purpose of showing off and not of enhancing the participants' magical experience. I'm not so sure about that any longer. How many times have we experienced something that is aesthetically pleasing as magical, if not as mysterious or unfathomable? The philosopher Wittgenstein placed aesthetic experiences in the realm of the Mystical, of the unutterable. There's probably good reasons for that.
Meanwhile, I'll continue practicing my one-handed riffle shuffles.
