There are two rules when applying sig figs to a question: ✖️ Multiplication & Division Your final answer must have the same number of sig figs as the value with the fewest sig figs in the question. ➕ Addition & Subtraction Your final answer must have the same number of *decimal places* , as the value with the fewest decimal places in the question. When a question mixes both? Break it down step-by-step ✅ And two bonus tips: ✔️ Values from the data book count - account for their sig figs! ❌ Numbers written as words( like “SLC” or “eight”) don’t count as numbers, so ignore them for sig figs.
