Whoever came up with the word ‘silent reflux’ didn’t really think it through properly! Silent reflux is not always so silent in your little baby! 💔 Babies don’t need to vomit large amounts or be losing weight for their discomfort to be taken seriously! Your baby cries to communicate with you. Their little bodies that are holding tension and discomfort is also another way they’ll communicate with you! These signs you see in this reel won’t tell us the cause of the reflux or diagnose reflux, because reflux is a symptom of an underlying issue and it’s not the main root cause of your baby’s discomfort. To truly support your refluxy baby, we need to understand the patterns behind your baby’s symptoms. What’s happening during feeds, after feeds and across the day and night! If you want to get to the root cause of your baby’s reflux, start tracking your baby’s symptoms and begin recognising the patterns that may be contributing to it all, comment TRACKER and we’ll send you a copy of our reflux mini guide and symptom tracker. 💕 Need a one-on-one consultation to help your refluxy baby? We can help! Link in bio to book your appt! #babyreflux #infantreflux #silentreflux #thegentlevillage #ibclc ©️@thegentlevillageperth 2026

{REFULX} There are 2 types of reflux: silent and projectile. ➡️Silent reflux is more like regurgitation. An infant will often choke on spit up/acid reflux as it attempts to enter back up the esophagus. ➡️Projectile reflux/spitting up will shoot out of an infant’s mouth in an uncontrollable manner. Both types of reflux can cause pain in the throat, neck, back, and stomach for an infant. Some infants will cry or show signs of discomfort after bouts of acid reflux! It’s estimated that more than half of all infants experience acid reflux to some degree. Here’s how we can help! ➡️Gentle chiropractic care and cranial sacral therapy can help alleviate pain in the back and neck that infants experience with acid reflux. ➡️Dr Rousseau can help alleviate discomfort that infants experience by restoring optimal nervous system function to the digestive tract resulting in less pain, gas, and potentially discomfort related to acid reflux. ⬇️Comment below any questions or tag a new momma to help them out with their new baby!!

Feeding struggles can feel overwhelming…especially when your baby is crying, refusing feeds, or just not settling 😔 There are so many possible reasons behind it: colic, tongue tie, silent reflux, indigestion. Sometimes it’s not just one thing. And sometimes, your baby simply needs a little reset 🤍 I’m so happy this little one is doing much better now, but if you’re in the thick of it, pause. Reset. Try again. And if still no luck, contact your pediatrician so they can do further testing and examination. #babyfeeding #bottlefeeding #parentingtips #colic #silentreflux

I think “They have reflux” 👇🏻 “But I don’t have heartburn…” (I hear that a lot too) When I see someone clearing their throat after a meal, I’m often thinking about LPR (laryngopharyngeal reflux) - a type of reflux that often doesn’t cause heartburn. That’s because LPR isn’t just about acid 🔥 It can be acidic or non-acidic, and it doesn’t always involve liquid reflux. Reflux can travel upward as gas bubbles carry small amounts of acid or enzymes like pepsin - enough to irritate the throat, which is far more sensitive than the esophagus. 🫧 🧠 There’s also a neurologic component Signals from the lower esophagus can trigger throat symptoms like clearing, cough, or tightness even without direct contact. At its core, LPR is often a mechanical issue. ⭐️ So treatment isn’t just about removing acid… it’s about improving the way your body handles pressure and movement. Here are 5 places to start 👇🏻 • Avoid tight belts or clothing that put pressure on the stomach • Chew your food thoroughly (supports buffering + motility) • Slow down - meals should take 20–30 minutes • Avoid overeating (overfilling increases upward pressure) • Be mindful with alcohol since it can relax the lower esophageal sphincter If you’re constantly clearing your throat after eating… it might not be “just mucus.” 👇🏻 Comment “LPR” if this explains your symptoms. #lpr #silentreflux #gerd #acidreflux #throatclearing

as a FTM this is truly SO hard. I always imagined feeding my baby being the calm, quiet & one of the most joyful parts of the day and instead we both dread it. We’ve tried so many formulas & currently on Pepcid. Hoping this gets better soon because I feel so sad (for both of us) 😭 #silentreflux #babyreflux #feedingjourney #laryngomalacia #3monthsold

Silent reflux is a MYTH! I cannot stress this enough. Some people believe that an unsettled baby who does not vomit or posset milk may suffer from ‘silent reflux’. “Silent reflux” is not a medical diagnosis. There is no scientific evidence to support this term or condition in paediatrics. The misdiagnosis of silent reflux can be really dangerous because it’s important not to medicate a baby for reflux when it is not the cause of their unsettled behaviour… It will only make the unrecognised reason for their unsettled behaviour worse! Never dismiss your baby’s unsettled behaviour as reflux or silent reflux. If they are noticeably uncomfortable and unable to sleep soundly, make sure you follow all of the official avenues, as directed by your doctor, in order to manage and acquire the correct treatment plan for your baby. There is more information on this in my sleep programs. #reflux #silentreflux #parenting #doctor #paediatrician #drgolly #sleep #babysleep

The ultimate SOS food list for your severe acid reflux & LPR (silent reflux) when tums & PPI’s don’t help 🙏🏼🔥  In addition to what’s been mentioned, it’s ESSENTIAL you eat your last meal at least 3-4 hours before bed or lying down, eat slowly, and avoid eating to the point where you feel overly stuffed. I get it, it might feel a little restrictive for the first month - but all this stuff will make a HUGE difference with your acid reflux or respiratory reflux symptoms. #acidreflux #heartburn #silentreflux #LPR

@babyrefluxguide
When my youngest was four months old, we were told he might need skull surgery. Our care team suspected craniosynostosis, an early fusion of the suture down the middle of his forehead, and were worried his brain could run out of room, causing damage. Safe to say, I didn’t sleep much for the next three months as we got second, third, and fourth opinions from specialists who mostly offered “wait and see,” while everything I read talked about the importance of early intervention. That triangular little forehead wasn’t the only thing going on. Along with severe reflux, Sandifer Syndrome, allergies, and zero sleep, my sweet guy was SO stuck in his body. I had to hold him exactly the right way and bounce to exactly the right depth for him to find any relief, and even then, it was temporary. Now I know why. He was compensating like his life depended on it. We eventually had his posterior tongue tie released (that’s another story) and within five weeks of the procedure + rehab, his forehead had smoothed out. In his case, all the tension from compensatory muscle use had worked its way into his face and the rest of his body. These days, I see it all the time in consults. Blistered or cobblestoned lips telling the story of friction. Big cheeks and a chompy suck telling the story of compensation. Shoulders stuck near ears, neck folds, and tucked thumbs telling the story of tension. And it all adds up. Babies learn to hold themselves in positions that hurt least, and those patterns can influence structure and function. That’s why I so often see reflux coincide with head turn preferences, torticollis, laryngomalacia, and plagiocephaly. If your little one always turns the same way or seems “stuck” in their body, gently improving mobility is often the first step and the Baby Reflux Guide app can make that easier on everyone 💛 👉 You’ll find step-by-step guidance on oral play and gentle movement strategies to help settle the tension patterns that can drive reflux and feeding challenges. ✨Start today! 92. 🍵 Chamomile “Calm-the-Burn” Tea You’ll need 2 heaped Tbsp dried chamomile flowers (or 2 tea bags) 200 ml (≈¾ cup) water Optional add-ins: a thin slice fresh ginger (for bloat), 1 tsp honey (after cooling), or a squeeze of lemon if tolerated Steps Boil 200 ml water. Add chamomile → simmer 2 minutes. Cover & steep 5 minutes, then strain. Cool to warm (not hot), then sip slowly. Timing tips For reflux: keep your last meal 3+ hours before bed; this tea 30–60 min before lights out. For daytime burn: one cup between meals, not chugged with food. Naturally caffeine-free and gentle. If you’re allergic to ragweed/daisies, pregnant, or on blood thinners, check with your clinician first. Silent Reflux… It looks like baby Jaime is suffering with silent reflux and so I took to the gram to ask all of you veteran Mamas what worked best for you to resolve this… As you can see the list is extensive and the main thing to highlight here is: A) I am NOT a trained professional in this area and really have no idea myself B) there is definitely not a one size fits all approach One thing is for sure though that before trying any of the above you should speak to a healthcare professional to make a decision for you and your baby. However I know many of you said you were in the same boat and I know how overwhelming it can be in the depths of the night when you know your baby is in discomfort. So I thought I would share the list of what you all recommended even just to be able to ask a professional about some of these options and if they would be a good fit for you. The most frequently suggested solutions were: 1) Try a comfort or reflux formula (worked for some, not for others) 2) Change formula brand 3) Try paced feeding - there are good You Tube videos on this 4) Keep baby upright after feeds - 15 to 30 mins so I am told 5) Use correct teat size - flow may be too fast or too slow for baby depending on symptoms 6) Change bottle brand 7) Check for Tongue Tie 8) See an Osteopath 9) Try craniosacral therapy 10) Use a baby probiotic - @biogaiaofficial was the most recommended 11) Try baby Gaviscon / Infacol / Colief / Colic Calm - all do different things so go by the advice of a pharmacist or healthcare provider 12) Follow helpful resources - the ones recommended to me are (listed below): @afif.elkhuffash @thenewbornnanny @nourishboob @doulanamara Dr Niamh Lynch It’s great to get suggestions as a guide on where to start but remember only YOU know and can decide what is best for you and your baby. I hope this helps. #reflux #silentreflux #newborn #newmum #newmomlife

1. Mniejsze porcje, karmienie co 2–3h. 2. Trzymaj malucha pionowo podczas i po karmieniu (20–30 min). 3. Częste odbijanie – po każdym 30–60 ml. 4. Rozważ zagęszczenie mleka, konsultując to z pediatrą. 5.
