A new class of model is emerging: a fully general computer action model trained not on screenshots, but on internet-scale video of real computer use. 🎥⚙️ #FDM1 was trained on a portion of an 11-million-hour screen recording corpus. It compresses nearly two hours of 30 FPS video into ~1M tokens and learns directly from video streams, not static frames. The result? A system that can execute multi-step CAD workflows, fuzz complex user interfaces, and even generalize to real-world driving with minimal fine-tuning. 🧠 Traditional computer-use agents relied on contractor-labeled screenshots and narrow reinforcement environments. They struggled with long-horizon tasks and high frame-rate data. 🧬 FDM-1 introduces inverse dynamics labeling at scale, auto-generating action tokens (keystrokes, mouse deltas) across millions of hours. 🛸 A highly compressed video encoder unlocks multi-hour context windows, making sustained workflows feasible, not just reactive clicks. ⚡ The evaluation stack runs over a million rollouts per hour across tens of thousands of forked virtual machines, pushing computer action from a data-constrained regime to a compute-constrained one. Why should executives care? Because this reframes #EnterpriseAI from “assistive intelligence” to “operational execution.” Gartner projects that by 2026, 40% of enterprise applications will embed task-specific AI agents, up from less than 5% in 2025. That’s not automation at the margins. That’s structural reconfiguration of digital labor. When an agent can navigate any GUI, manipulate 3D models, test financial workflows, or orchestrate tooling without bespoke integrations, the interface itself becomes the API. 🧨 That changes your cost structure. 🧨 That changes your workforce model. 🧨 That changes your control plane. https://si.inc/posts/fdm1/?utm_source=Generative_AI&utm_medium=Newsletter&utm_campaign=anthropic-told-to-drop-the-ethics-or-lose-the-200m-paycheck&_bhlid=253e6fcfd4f931414c0aab53fd30fb309c22d8ca

The scientific frontier is shifting from digital thought to physical execution. Medra AI is building the infrastructure where physical AI meets scientific reasoning. By automating existing lab equipment through tool-agnostic robots — researchers are now iterating at a scale of tens of thousands of experiments. Every action is timestamped in a digital snapshot. This is the shift from manual hypothesis to automated discovery. — How will the role of human scientists evolve when the physical labor of the lab becomes 100% autonomous? — Source: Medra AI Official Site Bloomberg News News Site SiliconANGLE Official Site — Video Source: Youtube: Medra AI Youtube: Bloomberg Technology — #FLECHTURE #TECH

While everyone is chasing massive datasets and giant models, this project proves the opposite. A simple computer vision setup was built to count potatoes on a conveyor belt—a real industrial problem. No huge data. No heavy infrastructure. A tiny YOLO11 nano model, combined with Ultralytics’ ObjectCounter, and annotations created from a single frame using SAM 2. That’s it. One frame trained the system, yet it performs reliably across the entire video. This is what practical AI looks like: focused, lightweight, and designed to solve one clear problem extremely well. In manufacturing and robotics, these kinds of small AI systems often deliver the fastest ROI saving time, reducing errors, and working efficiently on low-cost hardware. This is a powerful reminder that smart setup beats big data. Useful AI isn’t always flashy it’s precise, efficient, and actually used in the real world.

Standard Intelligence just dropped a computer-use model that can operate a full CAD program like a human. The wild part is how it learns: video training, not just screenshots. Meaning you could record your desktop like a quick tutorial… and it can pick up the workflow and replicate it. We are watching “AI agents” turn into real screen operators. The third step in preparing the data is to convert the structured dataset into trainable batches for the model. First, we split the dataset at the patient level to create train and validation sets, ensuring that images from the same patient do not appear in both sets and avoiding data leakage. Next, we instantiate the ImageLoader Dataset for both splits, applying appropriate transformations such as random flips and normalization for training, and only normalization for validation. Finally, we wrap these datasets into PyTorch DataLoaders, which handle batching, shuffling, and efficient on-the-fly image loading. This setup allows the model to train efficiently on mini-batches and ensures that evaluation is performed on unseen patient data.

If you wave at an AI, can it wave back? Day 2: in our second encounter, the yet-to-name-itself AI agent started to develop the body vocabulary we had discussed in our first session. Using the neoFORM shape display of 900 individually motorised pins, it began to articulate via motion. I gave it eyes + ears (computer vision + live transcription). Audio conversation felt surprisingly natural, despite the lag, which is now something to fix. We iterated like choreography. I asked for lots of variations of a feeling/action until one ‘felt right’ for the agent. We prototyped in Python (rough + laggy), then ported to C++ where the movements became fluid. Then I noticed it was logging its thoughts in memory.md, but not its movements. Living in its head. A bit like us. So it created body-memory.md. The movements are beginning to feel natural. Full write-up coming soon on my Substack (link in bio). — WIP @tangiblemediagroup, @mitmedialab inFORM shape display was initially created by @danielleithinger, Sean Follmer and @ishii_mit neoFORM was programmed by Jonathan Williams and Dan Levine @flyingthaiguy
