The Smith Machine is a very controversial subject with some gym goers for whatever reason…iykyk😂 Personally, I LOVE the Smith Machine. You’re able to do SO many exercises with it. And if you know the basics of great form, this machine keeps you in check. 🙌🏽 • ✾ BUT. Did you know there’s different styles of Smith Machines out there??? It’s important to know how to use them properly so you get the most out of each exercise. • This is a SLANTED SMITH MACHINE. 🔥 ✾ Make sure you know the difference between “quad” based exercises and “glute” based exercises. • 📥 KNOW THE DIFFERENCE: ✾ Quad Biased Squat - Make sure the slant is heading TOWARDS you when you squat down. With your feet directly beneath you, your knees will start to travel slightly over your toes. ✾ Glute Biased Squat - Make sure the slant is heading AWAY from you when you squat down. With your feet directly beneath you, your shins should stay parallel and your booty will travel back behind you like it’s shutting a door. • 🔥 FORM FOCUS: ✾ Quad Biased Squats - Your feet should be about shoulder width apart (for a traditional squat), directly underneath you (or a little forward), and you should squat straight down. Your knees will move towards your toes, or even slightly over there. Push through your entire foot to return your body back up to starting position. ✾ Glute Biased Squat - Your feet should be about shoulder width apart (or a little further for more glute focus), directly underneath you, and you should keep your shins parallel while squatting down and pushing your hips/glute BACK behind you.
