SYThrowback to this pretty amazing Kirin commercial featuring YMO that aired in 2007.
Spotted is an ARP Odyssey, Little Phatty and Moog Modular set up. They perform an alternate version of “Rydeen”, off Solid State Survivor, 1979.
Yellow Magic Orchestra, of course, are considered electronic music pioneers - consisting of Ryuichi Sakamoto, Haruomi Hosono and Yukihuro Takahashi, they played a key role in the development of several electronic genres, including synthpop, J-pop, electro, and techno among others.

"Behind the Mask" is a 1979 song by the Japanese synth-pop group Yellow Magic Orchestra. The composer, Ryuichi Sakamoto, wrote the first version for a television commercial. This was expanded with the band and the British lyricist Chris Mosdell for inclusion on the 1979 Yellow Magic Orchestra album Solid State Survivor. In the US and the UK, "Behind the Mask" was released as a single from the album X∞Multiplies in 1980.

More on Masabumi Hosono:
After surviving the Titanic, he was disgraced in Japan for the rest of his life because of the belief that his survival was not honorable. However, after his passing in 1939, an original Titanic letter was discovered where he wrote down the sequence of events on that fateful night. The letter restored his honor.
It said:
“…deep in desolate thought that I would no more be able to see my beloved wife and children, since there was no alternative for me than to share the same destiny as the Titanic…I tried to prepare myself for the last moment with no agitation, making up my mind not to leave anything disgraceful as a Japanese subject. But still I found myself looking for and waiting for any possible chance for survival.”
