Busy Tuesday supports > perfect plans. If it only works when you have time to laminate, it’s not a real classroom system. Here’s my “Tuesday-proof” rule: build one support that does two jobs—visual + communication, routine + regulation, directions + independence. Keep it simple, repeatable, and flexible so kids can access the day even when the day is doing the most. Because connection comes first, and support should lower the load for everyone. If I could just be the kind of teacher who smiles, nods, and says “okay!” to everything… whew. My life would be so peaceful. 😌 Like yes, please—hand me the schedule that makes zero sense, the “just push them through” expectation, and the IEP goals that magically happen without services. Totally fine. Love that for me. 🙃 But unfortunately… I’m a special ed teacher. And I can’t unsee what my kids need. So no, I’m not going to “just make it work” when it’s not working. No, I’m not going to be quiet when accommodations are getting ignored. And no, I’m not going to stop advocating because it makes someone else uncomfortable. If being “difficult” means my students get access, dignity, and what they’re legally entitled to… then congratulations—I’m the problem. 💅 Anyone else tired of being labeled “extra” for doing your actual job? 👇
