ITDay 28 of my 30 Days DevOps Challenge 🚀
“Everything was correct… but the alert was not coming.”
Prometheus was showing FIRING.
Target was DOWN.
But Alertmanager was empty.
No email. No notification.
After 2–3 container recreations, Docker network debugging, fixing volume mounts, and correcting localhost inside container…
Finally —
InstanceDown alert triggered.
Email delivered.
Lesson learned:
Monitoring is easy.
Alerting + Debugging is real DevOps.
Containers don’t talk on localhost.
Docker networking matters.
Logs are your best friend.

In Linux, everything is organized like a tree structure 🌳, starting from the root /.
Every directory has its own purpose — system runs smoothly only because of this structure.
📂 Main Directories:
/bin → Basic commands & programs (like ls, cp, mv)
/sbin → System-level commands (only admin/root use like "sudo")
/etc → All configuration files (like network, users, services)
/dev → Device files (USB, hard disks, etc.)
/proc → Running process info
/var → Logs & variable data (like cache, mail, print jobs)
/tmp → Temporary files (auto deleted after restart)
/usr → User installed programs
/home → Personal files & folders of each user
/boot → Bootloader & kernel files
/lib → System libraries (support for programs)
/opt → Optional/extra software
/mnt → Mount point for external drives
/media → CDs, USBs, removable media
/srv → Service data (web servers, FTP data etc.)
