SARecently, our officers responded to a crash at Myrtle Street and North Tamiami Trail. The investigation found that one driver continued through the intersection while the traffic light was red, resulting in another vehicle hitting their passenger side.
Thankfully, neither driver was injured, but both vehicles were heavily damaged. The driver was cited for failing to stop at a red light and for unknowingly driving with a suspended license.
This is a reminder we can’t say enough:
🔴 Red means stop.
🟡 Yellow means slow down and prepare to stop.
Rushing through an intersection isn’t worth the risk. It can put you, your passengers and others in real danger. Every time you stop at a red light, you’re protecting yourself and those around you. Drive safely, Sarasota. Let’s all do our part to keep our roads safe.
