KQVideo 1 of the Starduster 2 rebuild. Built in 1972 and only 50 hours total time. Basically left sitting in a hangar across time and basically a barn find. Going to be a full rebuild to take it back to its former glory.

I’ve always liked Starduster. I remember him from the cereal when I was a kid, but I never got the figure. His colors are really appealing to me though. I picked up a Black Major version a while back and, while not quite the same as the real thing, he’s a nice looking placeholder. As far as Classified renditions go, this one hits it pretty well. I didn’t get a picture of it yet, but the cereal box he comes with is a nice touch IMO.
If you’re not a completist, can you live without him in your collection? Yeah, probably. I think I actually ordered him on accident while I was preordering 4 or 5 other figures, because it was a bit of a surprise to me when he showed up, but I ain’t mad about it. He looks good. Although I do think Hasbro is pushing the limits of what is and isn’t a deluxe figure these days. Considering the figure and everything he came with was made entirely from preexisting molds, this one could have easily just been a regular release, or came with something new to actually make it worth a higher price point (a JUMP pad was a rumor for a while, which would have been nice).
All things considered, even though he’s pretty solid, it’s no surprise to me that he didn’t sell out immediately. Truth be told, I think the only reason the original is as popular as he is, is because of the exclusivity. Quite frankly, I don’t remember anyone really caring about him in the 80s. He was just the cereal guy.
