AUStar trails are actually really easy to capture and the results are stunning. Star trails images are simply taken by a single exposure over multiple hours or by taking back-to-back exposures multiple times over the course of a night. I prefer the method of taking multiple exposures because it is easier to fix if the tripod gets bumped, and it is also better for the camera sensor than running a single exposure for multiple hours.
Once you get home, combine all of the images onto one Photoshop workspace. Then, select all of the layers except the bottom one, and choose the blend mode “Lighten”. Just like that, you’ve created a star trail!

Step 1: Go far away from city lights — and make sure it’s not a full moon night.
Step 2: Download an app like Sky Safari or Stellarium to know and track the Milky Way — when and where it will be visible.
Step 3: Place your phone on a tripod or even a brick to keep it stable.
👉 For Android users — open Pro Mode and set:
•Exposure : +2
• Shutter : 20–30 seconds
• ISO : 2500–5000
• Focus : Infinity
• White Balance : 5000K
👉 For iPhone users — tap Night Mode and set long exposure to max (30s)
