I don’t care who made you. I love my step kids as I do my own kids. I want the same things for them. I put the same effort into their meals, their birthday gifts, their toys and their personal space in our home. I support them, cheer for them and correct behaviors. My husband and I jointly make decisions in OUR home for all of our kids regarding bedtimes, screen time, food, exercise, chores and general house rules. I don’t… interfere with my husband’s co-parenting discussions with their mom. I don’t speak to their mom about co-parenting or parenting concerns. That’s their dad’s job. I don’t make medical decisions. I don’t communicate with their teachers. I don’t make major decisions for them. And my husband doesn’t involve himself in any of those things with my co-parent either. We know our role. We respect the system in place. Do we discuss things together? Absolutely. Do we turn to each other for advice? 100%. But at the end of the day, the legal co-parenting decisions outlined in our respective parenting plans are for us to address with our own co-parents. And that’s it. #coparenting #stepparent #lifeafterdivorce

A STEPMOM NON-NEGOTIABLE My husband not having my back. I’m not saying he agrees with everything I say. He sure doesn’t.   There are many situations with my stepkids and in our co-parenting relationship where we are not aligned. We have many tough conversations. But he is my protector. He has my back And he will not allow anyone to disrespect me. I wouldn’t stick around if it were any other way. Your partner is the reason you’re a stepmom in the first place. If your relationship isn’t solid, and you don’t feel safe and secure, none of the extra stress feels worth it. To thrive in a relationship, you need to feel safe. You need to feel cared for. You need to feel protected. Disagreements can and should happen behind closed doors. You’re on the same team, even if you’re not always aligned. Your stepkids don’t have to like you. The ex doesn’t have to like you. They can feel however they want to feel. But they should know that your partner has your back. 👉🏻 It looks like this: “I won’t continue this conversation if you continue to insult my wife.” “You don’t have to like your stepmom, you didn’t ask for this, but you do need to treat her with respect.” “No, she is not your mom, but she is an adult in this home, and we need to be respectful of one another” WANT MORE? If you’re looking for strategies to communicate with your partner about how you’re feeling in your relationships and stepfamily dynamic, there’s a workshop in KICK-ASS Stepmom with prompts and communication strategies. I’ll show you how to have these tough conversations without causing an argument. Not a member yet? Comment community and I’ll DM you the link

Being a stepmom isn’t about replacing anyone — it’s about adding more love to a child’s life. 💛 Too often, stepmoms are caught in the middle of loyalty binds, power struggles, and unspoken tensions, when really, the goal is simple: raising a happy, healthy child. Here’s what we wish bio moms understood: 🌼 We know we’re not “the mom.” We’re not here to take your place — just to love your child too. 🌱 Boundaries go both ways, and respect makes blended families stronger. 💖 Your child needs more love, not less. They thrive when both households are safe to love. 🌙 Stepmom struggles are real — rejection, finding our place, and holding space for everyone isn’t easy. ✌️ We want peace, not war. Conflict only hurts the child. 🌸 We don’t have to be best friends, but we can be respectful partners in raising your child. At the end of the day, it’s not about titles, competition, or control. It’s about the child growing up surrounded by love. And that’s something every parent and stepparent should be able to agree on. #StepmomLife #BlendedFamily #CoParentingJourney #BonusMom #StepParentStruggles #ChildFirst

1. I’m actually a stepmum lol, because I used to be ashamed to tell people. Many Stepmum’s are actually ashamed to admit they are one, due to the stigma. Or are ashamed to admit they struggle due to fear of what others might say such as “You did know he had kids when you met him” 🫣 2. I wanted my own kids even though I’m a stepmum. I’ve always wanted children, and thought I would be married at 25 with 3 kids. 😂 Becoming a stepmum didn’t take away the maternal urge. it made me want them more. I have one bio child and another baby on the way, but if my husband didn’t have kids previously I would have liked 3 I think. 3. I never wanted to be a stepmum. But doesn’t mean I don’t want to be one now, and that I choose this life now. 😉 4. I still get triggered as a stepmum. It’s by far the most emotionally complicated role of my life! It’s normal to still be triggered. The key is to not run away from my feelings, use my triggers as an opportunity to grow and trust that my soul chose these lessons. The most success Stepmum’s know the only way through Stepmotherhood is continued inner work.🙏 5. I have a life outside of Stepmotherhood. This is incredibly important because we are not just Stepmum’s and have goals and dreams for our lives too. I have a life outside of motherhood, and no one judges me for this. 🤨 PS if you’re struggling with feeling like the outsider as a stepmum, and want to: ⭐️ Let go of stepmum outsider syndrome and feel at home in your own home (as you should!) 🏡 ⭐️ Heal the root cause of your outsider syndrome, because it didn’t start in Stepmotherhood. ⭐️ Learn how to create a place of calmness within you so that you can manage outsider triggers when they come up. ⭐️ Increase your confidence to speak up, and your authority to have a say over the things that affect you. ⭐️ Feel more comfortable around your stepkids ⭐️ Let go of second wife insecurities that are making you feel on the outside. Early bird price for my next workshop ‘BELONGING’ is available for a few more days! It’s a two part workshop series taking place on 19-20 March with recordings. Leave a 🩷 below and I will share the details in your inbox. 🙌

One of the trickiest questions stepmoms face this time of year: Should I go to my stepchild’s school event… or will my presence make things more complicated? 🎭📚🏈 My advice? Don’t guess; just ask. Here’s a simple script you can use: 📝 “Hey, I see you’ve got [school activity] coming up. Would you like me to be there, or would you prefer it’s just your mom/dad this time? Whatever you choose is just fine with me.” This takes the pressure off you, shows your stepkid you care, AND gives them the power to decide what feels right. 🫶 Want more scripts like this? 💡Every Friday I send out a free email with a new story, skill, and script to help you navigate stepfamily life with more ease and confidence! Behavior changes when we teach what TO do, not just what not to do. 🙌 🌟 Comment a behavior you want to change and save this for next time it happens. I’ll choose one or the most common one to make an example video about! Note: this tip isn’t about tantrums or changing how they respond to no’s. ⭐️Ask yourself: 1. Why are they doing this? 2. What could they do instead to get the same thing? This is called teaching a replacement behavior. 👇 Examples: • Whining when they want your attention → asking calmly for attention • Throwing food → saying “all done” or getting off the chair . . . #toddlermom #parentingtips #toddlerbehavior #childdevlopment #momhacks
