My husband and I were leaving the gym and in this little parking area a lot of times cars pull over the sidewalk and it’s very difficult to get by. So I got stuck not only by a car, but I also got stuck by my white cane getting caught in the groove. You wouldn’t think this is a big deal, and it often happens to white cane users, especially those who use a marshmallow tip. This is not my no jab cane, for those who know, this is just a regular cane and ouch when it gets stuck, it jabs you in the belly. We tried to say it’s no big deal, but it can be frustrating. I say this as I laugh because it happens all the time.

When I go with someone, I do not always take Blue to the gym, I use my trusty white cane. This is my Ambutech customized purple tipped with glitter white cane with a marshmallow rolling tip. I have a few white canes from Amtech, but this one doesn’t generally roll around or fall when I lean it against something at the gym. I was using my ID cane, but it is much thinner and it would get caught in these grooves as well and I think I started bending it. So I had to step up and use this one as it is made for every day use. Probably more information than you care to know about white canes. 🤷♀️This video is more about how funny is it that I got double stuck here?

Also, a small PSA to let people know why you probably shouldn’t pull in so deep on the sidewalk. If I were a wheelchair user, I would not have been able to get by. Just something to think about. 💙🦮
