POOne of the scariest moments of my surfing life.
I had just gotten an epic wave and was paddling back to the lineup, still catching my breath, when suddenly this SUPER wide set stood up on the horizon.
What you don’t see in the video is the craziest part:
A canoe full of local Hawaiian watermen took off on the that wave… and halfway down the face they had to change direction because it went so steep so fast. They literally KNIFED it to avoid getting pitched.
And of course I was right on their path 😭🪦
And then, pure ocean magic, a water bubble lifted my board just enough to keep it from snapping in half. I got tossed but somehow came up unscratched … and the canoe came out perfectly fine too.
It was one of those “I can’t believe that just happened” ocean moments.
Luckily the waterman soared my life as well 🤣🌊🔥

POThe five seconds that make it all worth it.
If you knew everything it took for me to surf big waves…
you’d probably think I was crazy.
14 years.
Sacrifices.
Fear.
Pain.
Doubt.
Starting over.
Over and over again.
If you asked my older, wiser self,
“Would you do the whole journey again just for that 3-second ride?”
Honestly?
Probably not.
No. Hell no.
But I’m glad I did.
I’m glad I was young.
Dumb.
Fearless.
Relentless.
And too committed to quit 🤣
Because adrenaline junkies like us?
We live for those moments.
Three seconds of magic
that take a lifetime to earn.
Would I do it again?
Probably not.
I’d be chilling somewhere in the Caribbean.
But here I am 😆
