I made this video a while ago to accompany the tutorial on a simple finger-loop braid in my book Tablet Weaving in Theory and Practice: From the Beginning (you can find it via my profile), but never published it here. Here it is at last! Thank you for all the encouragement yesterday, I'm still blown away by your support and will live on it the whole week ♥️ (Also, so sorry about the silly mistakes which I had to fix by throwing in extra text) At the very end of the tutorial I'll upload all of it on youtube, as well as a text-companion, so if you feel this was too quick to follow, fear not: the plan is to make it possible to pause and take one small step at the time. This tablet weaving tutorial will be in 8 parts: 1. Equipment/tools/making cards 2. Choosing and cutting threads 3. Threading cards, and learning to read a threading diagram 4. Last prep before weaving 5. Learning the basics of weaving 6. Learning how to follow a turning diagram 7. More good-to-know-things 8. Finishing the ends My hope is to make it bite sized and make you feel like you can master one step before moving onto the next, so that by the end you'll have your own handwoven band and can feel proud!

Who else is "not at work" but actually at work today? Tablet weaving is not my full time occupation (even though it keeps me occupied most of the time). To be honest, the business part of the event is okay. Edit: Decided to run a free, basic online workshop in tablet weaving. Link in bio for more information. <3 Second tablet weaving, this time with thicker yarn because I want to make a belt. Still using the same pattern, based on a find in Birka, here in Sweden, dated to 800-900 AD. (For those of you only here for the clothes: linen dress based on the Eura-dress, dated to the 11th century I think. Tablet woven wool belt, my own design, made ages ago. Free hand knitted (and home spun) wool socks)

I still correct the odd little thing here and there, but I enjoy the result. Was mir an dem Hobby Brettchenweben so viel Spaß macht: ich habe eine Idee, was ich weben könnte, schreibe die Anleitung und dann kann ich es einfach machen. It’s simple in design, yet produces very elegant, sleek, and airy weaves. It does come with some technical challenges, but as with everything, practice makes perfect.
