Sometimes the best thing a student dental hygienist can do is talk out there fears if the future scares them. Who better to talk it through with then an RDH who’s been in the field for several years! I get that the thought of being in the field actually doing the work can be scary but I’m here to bring your mind ease. The transition from school to the office is different but you blend in quicker then you think. You know your stuff so that’s no worry. It’s just a matter of figuring out the office & implementing what you know. This office was so great! They’re mainly peds. I actually interviewed with this office a number of years ago but didn’t take the job and then a week later it was Covid! Office is close to where I live which was nice. Great staff and very helpful assistants! Only thing I had to catch was not filling out a W9! Inb4 the comments saying it’s not, but can we accept the fact that learning your flow, getting used to the expectations of clinic is difficult all at once! This is when everything feels real imo. At least with future clinics I will get used to the flow and find my groove by then, but this is why I believe your first clinic is one of the hardest!
