I’ve decided I’m going to start sharing all the little tricks I’ve learned (and made up!) that make life easier in my elementary classroom 🍎✨ Today’s trick: Glue Sticks — The XBOX Method 🎮 I teach my students to: 1️⃣ Draw an X from corner to corner 2️⃣ Connect the corners with a square Boom — you’ve made an XBOX! It helps students get glue on every corner so papers actually stick, and it keeps the glue station from turning into chaos. Total game changer! 🙌 Follow along for more simple classroom tricks that make teacher life easier. #TeacherTok #ElementaryTeacher #ClassroomTips #TeacherHacks #TeacherLifeCapCut

How to LEARN anything FAST👇🏽🧠💯 Use my 4 neuroscience-backed techniques to learn anything 10X faster than everyone else thinks possible! 🚀 These are the exact methods I’ve taught to over 50,000 students as the world’s leading Smart Skills coach 🧠 🔑 The Feynman Technique Nobel Prize winner’s secret: If you can’t teach it simply, you haven’t learned it properly. Transform confusion into mastery: 1️⃣ Learn something new and close all materials. 2️⃣ Explain it like you’re teaching a child. 3️⃣ Stumbling? That’s where you need to focus! 🔥 MIT research shows this technique accelerates learning by 50%! It forces your brain to reorganize information for permanent storage. 🔑 Interleaving STOP marathon study sessions. Your brain craves variety to build connections. The neuroscience approach: ✅ Switch subjects every 25-30 minutes ✅ Mix easy and hard topics ✅ Rotate between different skills 📊 Studies prove interleaving increases learning speed by 43% and retention by 60%! 🔑 Spaced Repetition Forget cramming. Space out your learning for superhuman memory. The optimal schedule: 1️⃣ Learn it today, review tomorrow. 2️⃣ Review again in 3 days, then 1 week. 3️⃣ Final review at 1 month = locked forever! 🧩 Harvard research confirms spaced learning creates 200% stronger memories than massed practice! 🔑 Active Recall Reading notes 10 times? Waste of time. Testing yourself once beats passive review every time. Power up your memory: ✅ Close books and write what you know ✅ Use flashcards or practice problems ✅ Test yourself BEFORE you feel ready ⚡ Science shows Active Recall produces 150% better results than highlighting or re-reading! I taught these to James who thought he was a “slow learner” struggling in every subject. 6 weeks later, he learned Python, aced his chemistry exam, AND picked up Spanish basics! 📖 Stop learning the slow way. These are legit the BEST ways to learn ✅🧠👩🏽‍🎓💯 - THE METHODS: 1️⃣ Feynman Technique - learn the content, then teach it to someone who is unfamiliar with the topic (e.g. a child). Even better if you create a presentation & use analogies/diagrams/examples.This will highlight the areas you don’t fully understand, which you can go back to work on, and retry teaching until perfect 👩🏽‍🏫 . 2️⃣ SQ3R - to actively engage with anything you read use the following steps: Survey, Question, Read, Recite, and Review. Creating your own questions that you then answer when reading through the text makes it more engaging and memorable📕 . 3️⃣ Spaced Repetition - review content at regular, increasing intervals to help commit to long-term memory. For example: —> when you get home from school —> again that weekend —> the weekend after —> in a fortnight —> in a month —> in 3 months 📅 . 4️⃣ Loci Method - envision a common route or room, and make a list of all the objects you pass. Try to relate each object to a piece of content you have to memorise (e.g. your door handle is circular, like the shape of a ribosome, which produces protein for the cell). During your exam, walk through the route/room in your mind to bring back the information 🧠 - #studytips #studyhacks #studygram #studyskills #homeworkhelp #straightastudent #studentlife #students #student #studentproblems #school

Three things to remember for giving effective instructions 1. Never assume your child or student knows what you want. What feels like common sense to adults often isn’t always obvious to kids. 2. Following instructions is something kids learn by doing, not by being told once. Walking them through what the instruction looks like, practicing it together, and responding in the moment (feedback or reinforcement)  gives them a real opportunity to get it right and experience success. 3. Tell them what TO do, not just what to NOT do. Avoid instructions that rely on “no” or “don’t” statements. These don’t give kids any information about what behavior you’d like to see. For example, instead of “stop kicking,” try “put your feet on the floor.” Instead of “don’t interrupt,” try “if you need me, you can say ‘excuse me’ when you want to talk.” P.S. If we haven’t met yet—hi! I’m Jenna. I’m a behavior analyst, teacher, and mom. I started this account to help parents and educators with practical, evidence-based strategies that actually work, so you can enjoy more peaceful days without constant power struggles. So if you’re looking for real-life, easy-to-follow tips (without the fluff), you’re in the right place! #bcba #behavior #parentsofinstagram

Struggling to get your students settled at the start of a lesson? The solution isn’t shouting louder. It’s starting smarter. 💡 Here are 5 high-impact behaviour cues that can shift your classroom energy (without draining yours): 👣 1. Silent Start Routine Begin with quiet. Put a prompt or question on the board before students walk in. Predictable entry = peaceful start. [Silent start strategy, lesson openers, student focus] 👀 2. Use Proximity, Not Volume Walk through a distracted group without speaking. Your presence often speaks louder than words. [Behaviour cues, classroom management, teacher tools] 👏 3. Positive Peer Pressure Notice and name what’s working. “Love how Table 1 is already on task.” The rest will follow. [Positive discipline, classroom culture, student engagement] 🎯 4. Give Power Within Limits Assign jobs like “Board Monitor” or “Line Leader.” Even your most energetic students channel their energy into responsibility. [Student leadership, primary teaching, classroom helpers] 🎶 5. Use Rhythm or Call-and-Response Clap a pattern. Say “1-2-3 eyes on me.” Especially effective in the early years. [Call and response, attention signals, early years teaching] These are not tricks. These are tools. They protect your energy and create classrooms where calm is the routine, not a miracle. Which one would help in your classroom this week? 💬 Drop it in the comments. Your experience helps other teachers too.
