Let’s solve this control systems exercise together: find the steady-state value of the step response of the system illustrated in the block diagram. Comprising the closed-loop system architecture are the following fundamental components that allow for self-correction: * The Controller (G_c): The “brain” that processes the signal. * The Process or Plant (G): The physical system we are trying to influence. * The Output Transducer (H): Often a sensor that measures the output and feeds it back to the start. 🔄 The Power of Feedback Without feedback, a system is “blind” to external disturbances. Feedback allows us to compare where we are (Output) with where we want to be (Reference Input). If there is any difference between the two, the system drives the plant, via the actuating signal, to make a correction. In this specific problem, our output transducer, or sensor, has unity gain, which means that H(s)=1. This is a special case where the actuating signal is precisely the error signal as it is the actual difference between the input and output. ⏱️ Efficiency via the Final Value Theorem One of the most elegant tools in a control engineer’s toolkit is the Final Value Theorem (FVT). Usually, finding the steady-state behavior of a system would require us to perform an Inverse Laplace Transform to get back into the time domain, y(t), and then calculate the limit as t approached infinity. FVT lets us skip the heavy lifting. By analyzing the behavior as s tends to 0 in the frequency domain, we can predict the system’s long-term “resting point” without ever leaving the s-plane. #electrical #electricalengineering #controlsystem #electronics

Playing with gauge design to display temperature, humidity, and VOC air quality. I’ll publish the code and design on my website soon! This is @particle_iot Photon 2 based internet connected display widget I designed last month. It has onboard microphone, speaker, IMU, gesture sensor, VOC air quality sensor, and micro SD card connector. It’s currently fetching weather forecast for today, and the next three days from weather.gov API. Find more details in my previous posts! Design files and code will be first released to my Instagram and Patreon subscribers (thank you 😊🙏🏼), followed by a general release. #iot #arduinoproject #console #ui #ux #esp32 #ml #ai #sensorfusion #spacetech #pcbdesign #soldering

Couldn’t be me🫣 I found this natural gas and carbon monoxide detector on Amazon. It just plugs in—no batteries or installation. It was only $30 and has given me so much peace of mind😊 It also measures humidity and temperature🙌🏼 If you are a fellow worrier—you need this!😂 #gasleak #gasdetector #carbonmonoxide #safetytips #amazonfinds #asmr#

Cold room pump-down control sequence. Starting from off-cooling condition: 1️⃣ Room temperature rises 2️⃣ Controller energises the liquid solenoid valve 3️⃣ Refrigerant flows to the evaporator 4️⃣ Suction pressure rises 5️⃣ Low-pressure switch reaches cut-in 6️⃣ Compressor starts and cooling begins Simple control logic. But this sequence is what allows pump-down systems to operate safely and prevent liquid refrigerant from migrating back to the compressor. Visualising the cycle makes the control logic easier to understand. Visualised with SupaCAD 👉 supacad.com #refrigeration #commercialrefrigeration #coldroom #hvacr #compressor

🔥 What happens when heat meets electronics? This animation shows how an NTC thermistor controls current using temperature. When heat increases, the resistance of the NTC decreases, allowing more current to flow and activating the circuit. NTC thermistors are used in temperature sensors, protection circuits, battery safety, and smart electronics. This is how electronics can "feel" heat and respond automatically. Why (and how) to switch it out ⬇️ What you’re actually looking at here is the digital analog meter we had Xcel (our electric company) replace the smart meter with!!! See how it says opt out no communication?! When we moved to our new house in April, I noticed the Smart Meter (which almost EVERYONE has now) was right outside our bedroom 😭 Smart meters are CONSTANTLY in contact via an electric signal like wifi with the electric company, meaning you can’t turn it off and it emits HIGH levels of EMF. EMFs are invisible but not harmless. They impact our cells, and can cause symptoms like headaches, adhd, anxiety, and more. Kids, whos skulls are thinner, are even more likely to feel the effects, and their brains are still developing! If the smart meter is near your garage for instance and you don’t spend a lot of time there, it may be no big deal, but if it’s anywhere close to a family room or bedroom or playroom, time to act 🤓 📞Most states have an opt out program. Call your electric company and ask they replace your smart meter with a non communicating digital analog meter. Someone will have to come read it… so this may cost more. For us it was $11/month. Worth it to me. 👷You can also have them move the smart meter to another location. This usually requires more work and a one time fee but could be an option! Comment where your smart meter is and if you’re going to switch it out. ⬇️
