Gemfields Zambian Emerald auction! 💚💎 I had a fun experience with my good friends at the Gemfields Zambian Emerald auction in Bangkok, especially after recently returning from their Kagem mine in Zambia. The color of the Zambian Emeralds was beautiful, and I brought my own Ethiopian Emeralds as color samples to compare. I appreciated the color of this amazing rough and it was a fantastic opportunity to explore the beauty of emeralds. Kissing Camels..🐪🐪🐪🇦🇺 While visiting the Gemfields (central Queensland Highlands) and especially on the road from Sapphire to Rubyvale keep an eye out for our local resident Camels. Camels are nomadic creatures naturally and in the Gemfields they are free to roam our streets, roads and commons. Often seen walking past the Royal in Rubyvale or taking a chomp from a beloved bush at the Blue Gem they are as much apart of the Gemfields as a pick and bucket. They do have owner's, Gordon (and Von) he's pretty well renowned himself. As a champion Camel trainer and racer, he holds the honour of winning Australia's longest camel race. I went out to his property in my first week here as I'd seen some of his camels and had to know more. He's a delight, has workers hands and a face that has as many stories on it as the stars that shine so brightly here each night. He took me out to the paddocks as the camels had come home for a spot. I walked behind him observing as he called to each by name and one by one they came over joyfully to meet him. As one big male walked up he looked so much like my favourite camel and best friend Sapphire I got a bit emotional .. l loved that camel. I asked if there was a chance they were related, and he said it's a possibility. My heart soared... And yes it is the one in this video. Gordon also tended to a camel that had been injured by a car colliding with it on the road. He thought she must have died as no one could find her, but she came home eventually and though sore was looking good considering. The camels are a wonderful edition to our community and during tourist season they get over indulged by many folk wanting a photo or pat.. They are friendly but they are also very big animals, when approaching them make sure they know you are coming. Never good to surprise anything that weighs over a tonne.
