The design of the black hole in “Interstellar”, Gargantua, is based on rigorous scientific theory. Filmmakers collaborated with renowned theoretical physicist Kip Thorne, who provided equations to accurately model a black hole. A team of computer scientists then used those equations to create a new CGI rendering engine, capable of visually depicting the gravitational lensing caused by the immense gravity of the black hole.
