“Why do my lash extensions fall out after a week?”
Lash retention depends on several factors, and understanding them helps explain why some sets last beautifully while others don’t.
Here are the main things that affect retention:
1. Proper Lash Attachment
The way the extension is attached to your natural lash is one of the biggest factors in retention.
A strong attachment requires:
• correct isolation
• the right amount of adhesive
• full contact between the extension and the natural lash
If an extension is attached only at the tip of the lash instead of along the lash shaft, it won’t have a strong bond and may fall off much sooner than expected.
2. The Natural Lash Growth Cycle
Your natural lashes are constantly growing and shedding.
Each lash goes through three stages:
• growth phase
• transition phase
• shedding phase
When an extension is applied to a lash that is already close to the shedding stage, it may fall out sooner simply because the natural lash is ready to shed.
This is completely normal and part of the natural cycle.
3. Aftercare
How you care for your lashes at home plays a big role in retention.
To maintain your set, it’s important to:

• skincare products
can affect how well your lashes hold extensions.
If the natural lash is weak or very fine, a lighter extension may be required to maintain lash health and retention.
