💧1 x Infinity Pool and a very easy walk. I wasn't sure if I should post this as some people might get annoyed that I'm sharing a so-called secret spot...... in reality, this Infinity pool hasn't been a secret location for a long, long time, and it does get busy. Also let's be realistic, the pool isn't as impressive as people make it out to be and my page doesn't have that much reach 🤣 🙏If you didn't know this was here and you do decide to visit, please just be a good person and take everything home with you that you take there, rubbish, dog poo and all. I picked up a few little bits of litter today that people had left (nothing major) and took them with me to a bin. This is why lots of outdoorsy people don't like to share locations of pretty places. Me posting this will probably annoy a few folk, but I think the outdoors should be enjoyed by all. Always follow the leave no trace rule. 👍🏼 🥾This route is very easy and short, not too much uphill with the exception of when you reach the bridge, you hike up to the pool. 🐕No stiles for your pup to climb over, just be aware that there are big drops in to and from the pools so keep your pup close (I would say on a lead but I guess that's dependant on if they are well trained, I personally didn't chance it). #thirlmere #infinitypool #coldwater #northwest #cumbria #wainwrightbagging #Wainwrights #thelakes #cumbria #lakedistrictnationalpark #biglad #bighills #northernlass #hike #hikinggirl #hiking #mountain #mountains #ukhiking #ukhikers #adventure #countryside #cumberland #ullswater

This is still up there with one of my favourite views in the Lake District, after visiting year on year I never feel tired of standing on the wooden viewpoint overlooking Thirlmere. I must have timed today’s visit well, as it was quiet and even popping in to Keswick for breakfast afterwards I was surprised by how few people were around! The weather gods really did pull out all the stops today! CAR PARK: 📍Legburthwaite Car Park, CA12 4TQ First turn after walking up the road for about 5 mins is Stanah Lane, Follow the path that guides you along Fisher Gill until you reach the wooden bridge, then an immediate left hugging the waterfalls up the pool! Pools location: What three words - ///hiked.denoting.seagull Remember BE SAFE WHEN WILD SWIMMING especially in colder weather. Keep warm clothes to hand and I’d also say unless you’re used to it, don’t swim alone! And leave no trace, don’t be that tw*t who leaves a wrapper. Around 0.7 miles to the view point but STEEP the whole way, absolute leg and lung burner but great training… and if you head up on a clear day the views are insane! We were up and down in 58 minutes so perfect for a little stop off if you’re driving between Keswick and Ambleside! #hiking #view #lakedistrict #walk #outdoors

Family friendly hike with a view 👇🏻 ⛰️ One of the most popular smaller fells in the Lake District for good reason! A short and sweet hike that’s great for the whole fam, with an EPIC view thrown in. Raven Crag is a reliable pick for autumn too - you don’t need great weather for a great view! 📍 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗽 🗺️ @ordnancesurvey routes in bio, or comment 𝗥𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗡 for the links! 🚗 Thirlmere Dam (CA12 4TW)* * Note - the postcode by itself won’t get you to the car park. Use What3Words //float.onwards.entitles or navigate to start point of the OS route. 𝗢𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸 🥾 2km walk / 226m ascent 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗲 🥾 3.5km walk / 331m ascent ⭐️ Parking available at United Utilities Thirlmere Dam car park, right at the trailhead (plus a few lay-by spots if you’re lucky). ⭐️ Two different route options for this hike! The out and back version is VERY short with a steep ascent and descent, good if you’re pressed for time. The circular route is longer, with more cumulative ascent (the way down undulates a bit), BUT the overall descent is a lot more gentle. This is the route I’d generally recommend for beginners, as a very steep downhill trail can be tough going for kids.  ⭐️ Expect a short, sharp and rocky section to start (cutting straight through the forest and avoiding the switchbacks), followed by the final staircase to the summit. The climb is very doable for little kids, but they’ll likely need a few motivational breaks on the way, as it is steep going and pretty unrelenting. Older and more confident kids will smash it out no bother! ⭐️ For your efforts, you’ll be rewarded with probably the best view over Thirlmere going, and a great sense of achievement for kids. Added bonus, you can pick up an @earneditco medal for Raven Crag too (use our code 𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗧𝗟𝗘𝗟𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗦𝟭𝟬 for a 10% discount on medal orders - I’ll link in stories!). ⭐️ If you go for the longer circular version of the walk, don’t miss the bonus Benn Man viewpoint on the way down. This is a fantastic place to see jets low flying over Thirlmere too (one of the most reliable spots in the Lake District - we’ve rarely done this hike and NOT seen a flyover!).
