So I was unpacking my old school bag, and it hit me that book bags are just portable black holes. Like, no matter how much you shove in, they somehow fit more—but you can never find what you need. Then I started wondering: who decided bags should only have one giant pocket for chaos? Couldn’t we get compartments labeled “snacks,” “math homework,” and “crushed dreams”? Anyway, as I pulled out a rogue granola bar, I remembered that crows can recognize faces. FACES. Imagine beefing with a crow in middle school, and ten years later, it’s still mad and stealing your lunch.And THEN I thought about how pencils are basically tiny logs we whittle down to nothing. Why do we even need erasers? Just commit to your mistakes like pens do. Pens are confident.And while I fished a sticky pen out of the side pocket, I remembered that armadillos can roll into balls. Imagine doing that during a pop quiz—just curl up and wait it out.By the time I finished emptying the bag, I wasn’t sure if I’d cleaned it or uncovered a portal to chaos. But one thing’s for sure: crows are petty, pencils are insecure, and book bags are just stress with straps.
