I don’t think anyone could have said it any better. A lot of the times when were are frustrated with someone, we default into frustration because we feel like the change we are expecting from the other person is backfiring on us. Whether it be with a parent, a relationship, someone we work with, or anyone else that we are interacting with, it’s frustrating when we feel like we aren’t being heard and understood as we expected.
But when you grow up with childhood wounds that have been telling you that your feelings and thoughts are unimportant, you were taught that your thoughts don’t matter but the other person does. You believe that your opinions are less than that of others. So you change, thinking that if you adapt then maybe somehow the other person will see and make a change. But the truth is, no one changes unless they want to change.
And when their self-imposed issues and problems start to affect your life, you become more weighed down by it, thinking it is your responsibility to help them fix it.
