It be like that sometimes ... While I wanted some @silverringsplint for the hypermobility problems that are causing havoc in my hands, two OTs measured me and scarily had two very different measurements. I just didn't feel comfortable ordering something so expensive out of pocket to have it not be correct and have to add a whole other frustrating situation to my life. I looked into other options, so many of which would cost the same as silver ring splints or are wire wrapped. Fun fact about me, before my hands got really bad I spent so much time wire wrapping rings, necklaces, and sun catchers. It's a hobby I miss a lot. I have all the tools so I decided to give it a whirl and this thankfully took me less than 20 minutes to figure out. I guess I'll be ordering some stronger materials than this copper and whipping up my own finger splints. Here's hoping they help. If so, down the road I will find someone confident with the silver ring splint measuring system and upgrade. Today's mockup clasp is the baby brother to the enclosed keyhole clasp shown in the background. It's a great skill builder to learn the major fiddly bit...the fit of the key to the lock plate. You can see the mechanism similarities but it has a tiny bit more room for corrective action than the enclosed one. Great alternative to a toggle or J hook for even a basic chain.
