Tyler is cutting out the face of a hemlock. This is on a tight quarters land clearing job where precision is key. The face is a called a Humboldt cut. If executed properly the cutter does not have to “clean up” the butt of the tree resulting in one less cut per tree. Logistically this causes the tree to hit butt first as opposed to top first.
