The Fear-Tension-Pain Cycle 🌀 If you’re supporting someone in labor, one of your most important jobs is helping them stay calm to break the "Fear-Tension-Pain" cycle. When fear kicks in, the body’s natural response is to tighten muscles and take shallow breaths. This physical resistance actually makes contractions feel significantly more intense. By helping your partner feel safe and informed, you aren't "stopping" the labor work—you are changing how their brain and body experience it. A relaxed body is a more efficient body! Pelvic pressure that makes walking difficult. Heartburn that wakes you up at night. Swelling that makes your shoes not fit. Sleep that's basically impossible. And everyone asking "haven't you had that baby yet?" The third trimester is hard in ways nobody fully prepares you for. But here's what helps: Knowing which symptoms are normal discomfort and which ones need medical attention. Understanding what your body is doing to prepare for labor. Having realistic expectations instead of wondering why you're struggling. You're not failing at the third trimester. The third trimester is just genuinely difficult. What you're carrying—physically and emotionally—is a lot. Save this for third-trimester solidarity. My guide helps you prepare for every stage before it hits you. Comment GUIDE to get yours.

Late pregnancy symptoms can feel intense and confusing — especially when everything starts to blur together. Cramping, pressure, tightening, back pain… Not all of it is labour — but knowing what’s what brings peace of mind. Understanding your body helps you feel ready instead of panicked. 👉 Comment PREP to prepare with clarity.

Most women unknowingly make these last-minute mistakes that actually make labour longer and more difficult. Here’s what to AVOID in your 9th month and what to do instead 👇 ❌ WHAT NOT TO DO 1. Don’t completely stop walking or activity Too much bed rest (unless advised) can slow labour. 2. Don’t skip check-ups or ignore symptoms Reduced movements, pain, bleeding, or leaking fluid need immediate attention. 3. Don’t listen to random advice or myths Every pregnancy is different — follow your doctor, not Google or neighbours. 4.Don’t panic or fear labour pain excessively Fear causes muscle tightening and can delay labour. 5. Don’t overeat heavy or junk food Heavy meals can make labour uncomfortable and exhausting. 6. Don’t compare your journey with others Your body, your baby, your birth story 💛 ✅ WHAT TO DO 1. Keep moving gently Daily walking, light stretching, and prenatal exercises help the baby come down. 2. Practice breathing & relaxation Deep breathing, pelvic relaxation, and staying calm really help during labour. 3. Stay well hydrated & eat light meals Small, nutritious meals keep your energy levels up for labour. 4. Attend all antenatal visits Regular check-ups help detect issues early and keep both mother & baby safe. 5. Sleep well & rest smartly Adequate rest helps your body prepare for labour — listen to your body. 6.Maintain a positive mindset Confidence and emotional support make a huge difference in labour progress. Your 9th month is not about “just waiting” — it’s about preparing 👶 The right body posture, movement, mindset & support can truly make your normal delivery smoother 💪 Follow @drshilpagatta for expert-backed birth prep, fertility care, and gynaec tips that actually work.

Signs Your Baby Has Dropped (Lightening): When a baby "drops," it means the baby's head has moved down into the pelvis, usually close to labor. Common signs include: * Lower belly: Your bump looks lower than before. * Easier breathing: Less pressure on your chest and lungs * More pelvic pressure: Heaviness or discomfort in the lower abdomen * Frequent urination: Baby presses more on the bladder. * Pelvic or back pain: Especially when walking or standing. * Change in walking: You may waddle more * Increased vaginal discharge: Sometimes more mucus. Note: Baby dropping can happen weeks before labor (especially in first-time mothers) or just days/hours before labor in women who have given birth before. If you notice pain, bleeding, or reduced baby movements, contact your hospital # understanding prelabour changes # mom to be

Resting Between Waves 🌊 Did you know most "suffering" actually happens between contractions? Contractions come in waves with built-in rest periods, but stress often comes from fearing the next one. When your mind stays tense during the break, your body never fully recovers. Learning to rest deeply between waves—dropping your shoulders, jaw, and hands—conserves your energy and makes the next contraction feel more manageable! Here’s something prenatal providers see all the time: Fatigue. Leg cramps. Heartburn. Anxiety. Hemorrhoids. Poor sleep. Most women are told, “That’s just pregnancy.” But why would be tell women that pregnancy is essentially random chaos, when we KNOW it’s purposeful physiology. And physiology communicates. When blood volume is low, you feel dizzy or exhausted. When minerals are depleted, muscles cramp. When digestion is under-supported, reflux shows up. When the nervous system is overloaded, sleep disappears. Symptoms aren’t supposed to be punishments, they’re signals trying to get your attention. Not everything in pregnancy can be solved, but far more can be supported than women are told. You’re not dramatic. You’re not weak. And your body isn’t betraying you. It’s asking for something. Learning how to read those signals changes everything about how you experience pregnancy. And this is exactly what we unpack as this series continues- but if you want to see our entire birth education offerings right now, comment “BIRTHPREP”. Episode 6 is where we get into supporting the nervous system, and why it shapes absolutely everything about how you birth 🤍 tune in for it on Monday!

Sharing this to help you feel prepared☺️ 🌸 1. Lightening (Baby “Drops”) You may feel baby move lower into your pelvis. ✔️ Easier breathing ✔️ More pelvic pressure ✔️ Frequent urination 🌸 2. Loss of Mucus Plug You might notice a thick discharge that’s clear, pink, or slightly bloody (sometimes called the “bloody show”). This can happen days or even weeks before labour starts. 🌸 3. Irregular Contractions (Early Labour) • Mild cramps that feel like period pain • Lower back ache • Tightening that comes and goes They may not be consistent at first. 🌸 4. Water Breaking A sudden gush or a slow trickle of fluid. If this happens, contact your healthcare provider. 🌸 5. Nesting Instinct A sudden burst of energy and the urge to clean or organize everything 😅 🌸 6. Loose Stools or Nausea Hormonal changes before labour can upset your stomach. 🌸 7. Stronger, Regular Contractions This is when contractions: ✔️ Come every 5–10 minutes ✔️ Last 45–60 seconds ✔️ Get stronger over time This usually means active labour is beginning.
