Austria has a ton of epic hikes but this is easily one of my favourites! Low effort and super high reward!
📍Seebensee & Drachensee
Here’s some things to know before visiting:
🚠 Optional: Take the Ehrwalder Almbahn up to Ehrwalder Alm (16€ one way or 25€ return) or hike from the lower station which will add about 400m in elevation gain to your hike
🥾 The hike from the upper station to Seebensee is pretty easy. Can even be done with a stroller or bicycle. About 2 hours to Seebensee but only with slight elevation. To get further up to Drachensee, you will have about 45 mins of uphill hiking. Totally doable but definitely more strenous than the previous part.
You will arrive at Coburger Hütte, which overlooks both lakes and can walk down to Drachensee from here.
🍴 Coburger Hütte and Seebenalm are two locations where you can get some food and drinks + enjoy the view!
🚗 You can park your car at Ehrwalder Almbahn for 5€ per day or also get there by public transport.
You can swim at both lakes but the water here is COLD even in the middle of summer, but perfect to cool off ater the hike.
It can get quite busy here in summer, espcially on weekends and holidays, so avoid these if you can and try to go relatively early in the day.
