HE2023 Highlight Number 1: Fall 2023 Ucross Fellow. It was such an honor to be selected as a Ucross Fellow & have the support of the Ucross Foundation to mobilize The Conversation Series: Stitching the Geopolitical Quilt to Re-Body Belonging in the state of Wyoming. My process involved 3 different visits between June - August 2023 to build relationships, engage with community members, & engage in artmaking & meaning making. On Saturday, Sept 9th I shared a Choreographic Ritual (#7) with dance partner Brandon Welch on the grounds of Ucross Foundation. This site-based offering to the community was part dance, part performance art, part meditation. Thank you @ucrossfoundation I have a vivid memory of this video of me improvising as way to get my body moving & energy flowing in preparation for rehearsal. CAWith give-or-take 50 solo saxophone + electronics shows over the past several years, I thought this would be a good time to release an album that flaunts my solo work: Fallows. This is the first time I’ve ever done this! (((aside from an informal dedication I made for a very generous and kind gentleman who helped me on the side of the highway in a scary moment when my car broke down in 2011, with my one-and-only pedal, the Line 6 DL4))). Pre-orders are up now on my bandcamp page - link is in linktree and in stories. I will say that it means a lot when you pre-order albums, I can’t stress that enough, so take time to pre-order, share, spread the word. I am so excited about the music, the process, upcoming tour dates, photos that Adi took, art that Tulu made. It’s all been quite a journey since making Fallows at Ucross last year. GRPutting it all back together… Many of the paintings for my show will be coming from the studio in Paris, so I brought them over rolled in a tube. Restretching the finished painting can be a delicate process. Come see the results in New York next week at my show ‘Under the unminding sky’ @guyhepnereditions on Thursday, May 11.

THFriends! I am at a wonderful artist residency. Ucross @ucrossfoundation in WY - currently settling into the studio and exploring my surrounds. I’m on the ancestral homelands of the Cheyenne, Crow, and Lokota nations. Sharing with you today:
1. My commute up the iconic tree-lined drive, featuring an enormous herd of Whitetail deer!
2. My sweet, single speed that GETS me and gets me places. 🚲
3. outside the rock studios – that’s my sliding glass door to the right.
4. And so it begins – actually stretching canvases! And had to get some works on paper started just to get color going.
5. “S” in snakeskin urges me to shed my own.
6. Chef Jackie - food sorcerer/mad scientist 😋
7. Hike at sunset trying to see where I am 👀
8. Petrified tree - so much to explore around here!
9. My goofy head for scale
10. First night - super moon said “hey.”
So far - so good. Wish me luck!
Huge thank you to Ucross and The Ford Family Foundation! This place is dreamy, and I plan to make the most out of my time here. More soon.

BEMinty Breeze (2021) 🌿🌬️
Revisiting an old piece brings back so many memories 💭 I wrote Minty Breeze during the pandemic at UCross @ucrossfoundation. It was such a fascinating experience, going from one kind of isolation to another, but in a completely different way. Being there helped me breathe again, be surrounded by nature, and think about the people I love— like my dear friend Bokyung @bokyungbyun 💚
This piece was created for a special collaboration with Jennifer @jenn.hackbarth, an absolutely beautiful dancer and choreographer. So happy to share this old piece again and relive those moments. 🌿✨

SOSaying good bye to summer, hello Fall with a full art plate, and even fuller heart. On going gratitude to @jentel.artist.residency and my fab art cohorts for transporting me to places that were buried, and now ignited. My long walks in the 1000 nurtured my spirit and informed my palette, turning into many paintings and mono prints on handmade paper. WY is another place that feels like coming home.
Ty @ucross for the inspired visits, and the brilliant sound walk, Confluences, where I learned about the restorative ranching models employed, and rich geological history. I'm a science and book geek at heart.
The mountains climbed invited hundreds of long exposures that may turn into paintings/encaustics. Sharing a few here, and the landscape that inspired them. For me they captured a transported dream state I could take into and expand my practice. I collected bags of sage, incredible petrified wood for sculptures in the making, solidifying my connection and expression of form through natural elements.
Keeping one toe in the mountains as I re-enter my Hudson Valley life, preparing for a solo show in Nov., travels to a wedding in Spain to celebrate my nephew Addison and beautiful @lillian.elyse in Spain, and counting the many blessings that time and space gave me. WY opened my head and heart to an even deeper commitment to my practice of finding the still point within my work, and bringing environmental awareness through nature in re-imagined expressions.
Looking forward to sharing more with you as this evolves. Ty @beth_venn @neltjecenter and providing the roots and context for my solo show unEARTHED, opening @baugallery in Nov. save the date 11/8. + Group show curated @ellenhawley_curates @rowaytonarts opening 10/12.
