Improvisation is reacting without experience. Adaptation is a reaction based on certain experiences. About this run. I cleared the spaces and prioritized places where people normally hide once established security. At this point, I had to interact with this closet. I will share some interesting observations with you which I hope you can benefit of. Some background first. When we work closets and other common types of hideouts, we use specific SOPs to account for the best position. The better position, the better the outcomes.. Depending on the setup and without getting into details, the individual should prioritize 45/45 or 90/45 when interacting with vertical hideouts prior to openings. The reason for the angle variability is based on how closets open and how humans may react. Long story short. Weeks prior to this training, we used a kill house where we had certain types of closets that opened fully. meaning door didn’t resist. In this closet, as part of a first time clear of a place I haven’t been to, the ‘’door’’ of the closet, got jammed on the 90s. in the same time. I saw a deeper target which was harder to see. Here I had two options – Rip the door open. Get the shot. Or leave it for a better angle. Interestingly, since previous training sessions, where the doors always fully opened, were so consistent, the cue that may lead to the appropriate response was diminished. The result? Less than optimal performance. Not happy about it. I don’t like the distance. To make it more interesting – typ 01 malfunction took place. And here…it boils into adaptation. Things don’t go as planned. Things become some kind of chaotic mess. The question is how much of the environment and its cues we can still discriminate. How quickly can we notice options and utilize these options? Here, my injured shooter / Sheild weapon manipulation training baseline kicked in, and helped me adapt, rather than overcome. I did do something I trained. And within good amount of time. #training #gpnvg #nvg #ufpro #ferroconcepts #mtek #falcom

Few takeaways from this one: 1. Backlighting (think that light ND & Candela / Lumens ratings) 2. The lack of physical protection behind Concealment is compensated through speed 3. Movement into corners isn’t the most beneficial way to clear spaces (solo & team context). #cqb #projectgecko #tactical #ufpro

It works like this: 1.Minute on the assault bike – fast as possible 2.We used the @underdog CORE kit or Blazepods to assign target description 3. Sprint into the second floor of the killhouse 4. Arrows in the corridors will dictate PDC (priority direction of clear) 5. Rooms are FULL with targets. Different colors, letters numbers. 6.Find, identify, appropriately respond. All this without dropping what you learned. Quick feedback - repeat. 10 reps and you will feel great 😎 Why? This external stress allow us to force the student to direct attention and control AWAY from the stuff he just learned. In short: the mask is off, and we can get a true glimpse into how people apply what they learned. #projectgecko #pgl #tactical #forceonforce #research #Specialproject #ufpro #multicamtropic
