1. Your Instructor Leaving.
This is a very common struggle in flight training because most instructors do the job with the goal of leaving when they reach the hourly experience to get hired as a corporate or airline pilot.
The best thing you can do to ensure you success when your instructor leaves is to look at it as a positive! You will gain a completely new set of eyes to critique your flying and ensure that you are learning what you need to learn. Although you will have to develop a new relationship, it can improve your flying in the long run to have new tips and techniques in your arsenal that your previous instructor did not teach you.
2. Weather Delays
If you live anywhere near me, weather is terrible at least four months of the year. However, just because you cannot fly does not mean you cannot progress in your training.
The solution for this one is to use your time on the ground wisely. Instead of just canceling your flight and hopping on xbox or going to the bar, you should take the opportunity to study.
Chair fly your maneuvers or hop in the simulator with your instructor to make sure that you are still progressing and doing everything in your power to improve while waiting for the weather to pass.
3. Lack of Scheduling Availability / Planes Down For Maintenance
Some of this one is dumb luck. However, there are definitely some things you can do to improve your chances.
First, schedule your ALL lessons out in advance whenever possible. If you go to book last minute, the availability is bound to be poor. If you book 3 weeks in advance, you will have a much easier time getting the airplane and instructor you like.
