SCIt’s not clear to me that Vance actually runs in 2028.
His wife is pregnant.
And here’s the one people are dismissing that they shouldn’t be: He does not have the support of the Pope.
I know how that sound, but Vance just converted to Catholicism.
And the Pope has been openly critical of this administration and its policies.
There are 80 million Catholics in this country.
You cannot win the presidency without a meaningful share of that vote and a Catholic candidate who is openly at odds with the sitting Pope has a very specific and very serious problem that no amount of campaign spending fixes.
So there’s a real chance Vance doesn’t run.
Which makes Marco Rubio the apparent heir.
If this Iran situation produces a positive outcome, Rubio gets the credit.
He was in the room. He was at Mar-a-Lago when the decisions were made. He is positioned perfectly to claim the win.
But if we’re still in this mess in 2027 with no exit strategy and $200 billion spent and troops on the ground?
This will be a disaster for Republicans in 2028.
The Iran war is now Marco Rubio’s war too.
