VBT Training for In-Season Athletes One of the greatest advantages of Velocity-Based Training (VBT) technology is its ability to provide real-time data and feedback between coach and athlete. As most field athletes transition into competition, it’s crucial to maintain less than 10% velocity loss between sets to preserve strength and power repeatability. Depending on the training goal and exercise selection, velocity ranges (m/s) will vary however a general progression framework for mean velocities includes: 🔹 Max Strength: <0.5 m/s  🔹 Strength-Speed: 0.5–0.75 m/s  🔹 Speed-Strength: 0.75–1.0 m/s  🔹 Acceleration Strength: >1.0 m/s  Currently, our athletes have had a significant focus on their Strength-Speed in our last mesocycle, and our Flex Barbell Tracker (VBT tool) has helped optimize training by: ✅ Live Load Adjustments – Automatically adapting weights based on VBT m/s to hit precise training targets. If velocity is too low, we reduce the load or cue the athlete to increase intent. ✅ Fatigue & Injury Risk Management – Tracking velocity loss to regulate weekly training loads, similar to GPS data in running. This ensures sets are stopped once a specific m/s threshold is reached, preventing overtraining and unnecessary fatigue. ✅ Transferability To Sport-Specific Performance – Training at optimal speeds enhances neuromuscular adaptations, leading to better on-field performance. By integrating VBT technology, we can ensure that athletes train smarter, perform better, and stay game-ready all season long! Sprint sulla sabbia per raggiungere la barca, 500 metri con giro di boa, e di nuovo corsa fino al traguardo. Tre fasi. Tre qualità fisiche diverse. Un unico sistema da allenare. Nel nostro progetto lavoriamo esattamente su questo: 🔩 Pesi — forza e velocità controllate con VBT, perché ogni ripetizione ha un target di velocità specifico. 🏃 Corsa — reattività sulla sabbia, accelerazione, gestione della transizione corsa-barca. 🚣 Barca — tecnica e potenza specifica nei 500 metri, con e senza onde. Since then, his spinal curve has improved from 80 degrees to just 11 degrees — an incredible transformation! Scotty’s determination and energy inspire us every day. Velocity Based Training (VBT) - a “form of auto-regulation of training, where day-to-day fluctuations can be accounted for by adjusting the training load”(Mann et al, 2015). - VBT is used to measure & assess an athlete’s readiness to train, marry context and specificity, improve load prescriptions, gamify individual outputs & drive a more competitive training environment. - While training tools like the @ovrperformance can provide certainty, I’m not quite sold whether I’d take an absolute stance on this hardware being a necessity over luxury. - I spent 16 years developing my coaching eye before utilizing this tool. Because measuring bar speed helps us determine how hard you are working and if the weight is appropriate for the desired results. For example, here we are working on heavy loaded power with @geno meaning goal of .7-1.1m/s. So the bar the weight needs to be heavy enough but not too heavy. @outputsports allows us to measure each rep within the desired velocity range to ensure we’re getting the desired power output and with the appropriate load.
