You must emphasize your lats, upper back, obliques, chest & shoulders. - Here is a 10-20min full body workout you can do almost anywhere with very limited equipment: - 1. Pull ups, 3 x 10 reps 2. Chin ups, 3 x 10 reps 3. Hanging knee raises, 3 x 12 reps 4. Incline push ups 5. Decline push ups 6. Dips, 3 x 12 reps 7. One leg push, 3 x 12 reps - Repeat this workout for 3 rounds, rest time at 3min after each round. So in this bodyweight workout you will have lots of intensity. - Ps. To obtain a V-shape it requires consistent effort where workouts in isolation are not enough. Start with chin ups before pull ups - The reality with pull ups is most people are not strong enough for it. Too many make the mistake of starting with pull ups before actually having the strength to do it properly. Resulting in rolling shoulders excessively forward, and removing all efficiency the exercise should have on your lats and upper back. Start with chin ups. - 2. Do one arm cable rows - This is a king exercise for isolating your lats for that V-tape. Keep reps and sets high, 12-15 reps, 3-5 sets, low rest time (75s). - 3. Learn to squeeze shoulder blades together on back exercises - Another mistake is the ego-liftig without including the «shoulder blade squeeze». Most people lift too heavy weight which results in no squeeze at the end of their back exercises. You are missing out. - 4. Do 8 sets of lateral raises per week - Ever heard the term «spam lateral raises»? Lateral raises is one of those exerises you can just rep and rep. 3 main things you need to focus to build a v-shape body 1. Shoulders: Having big shoulders is key for a v-shape body. Spam your shoulders. Trust me. I’m not like most guys who focus on growing their arms. I’m more focused on growing my shoulders and rarely isolate my arms The best exercises that have helped me and my clients with shoulder growth are - Overhead press (either dumbbell or barbell) - Dumbbell lateral raises - Rear delt flys - Standing I’s Y’s and T’s 2. Focus on back growth: if you want to have a big upper body and snatched waist appearance that people would kill to have... here’s the exercises you should prioritize - Barbell Bent over rows - Pull ups - Don’t neglect your rear delts, they go hand and hand with a nicely developed back 3. Get lean and burn the unwanted belly fat. It’s common for men to have fat around the mid section but if you truly want to have a v-shape body you need to lower your overall body fat especially around the mid section Nutrition is going to play a big role in this. Prioritize protein aiming for at least 1g of protein per pound of body weight Limit the junk to only 20% or less of your daily food and the other 80% should be from good quality whole foods to build a strong foundation Another thing that can help give you the appearance of a v-shape body is not over training your obliques. This can thicken your mid section and you can look like a block instead of a V Think of the average cross fitter no hate against them most of them are jacked! But most will have a blockier shape Also don’t over train. Give your body enough time to recover and grow. The best results I’ve gotten have been from cutting back on how often I was training and prioritizing rest and recovery You don’t need to train 5,6 or 7 times a week for hours on end.
